Picture of the Day: Wasco County Library Kicks Off Summer Reading Program

The Dalles Ore., June 20, 2024 — On June 18, the Wasco County Public Library kicked off its 2024 Summer Reading Program. The program aims to promote literacy and encourage kids to keep reading throughout the summer break.
The event featured tables filled with prizes, with separate categories for kids, teens, and adults. Attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, including face painting, two bouncing houses, shaved ice, raffles, and tie-dying.
“This is a great turnout,” said Rita Squires, the library clerk. “I can't believe how many new faces I've seen today.”
The library’s Summer Reading Program will continue throughout the summer, offering various incentives and events to promote reading among all age groups.
