Water Main Upgrade Federal St. Between E 1st St. and E 2nd St.

The Dalles, Ore., Oct. 27, 2025 – On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, the City of The Dalles Public Works will begin work on Federal St. between E 1st St. and E 2nd St. to replace and upgrade water mains in the area.

Phase 1: Full street closure on Federal St. between E 1st St. and E 2nd St. will remain in place from Tuesday, October 28, to Thursday, October 30, 2025. Motor vehicles and bicyclists will be detoured to adjacent side streets. Parking lots on E 1st St. will remain open and accessible by alternate routes. Pedestrian and sidewalk access will remain open through the duration of this work.

Phase 2: Full street closure on Federal St. between E 1st St. and the alley between E 1st St. and E 2nd St. will remain in place from Monday, November 3, to Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Motor vehicles and bicyclists will be detoured to adjacent side streets. Parking lots on E 1st St. will remain open and accessible by alternate routes. Pedestrian and sidewalk access will remain open through the duration of this work.

Work hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on each scheduled work day. The street will remain closed throughout the night and on the weekends.

Please proceed with caution in this area during street closures. Please observe all temporary traffic control devices. Thank you for your attention to traveling safety during this work.

No parking will be allowed within the project areas to allow room for large equipment to work safely. No parking signs will be placed on the curb 48 hours before the project moves into each work area.

City of The Dalles

The City of The Dalles, Oregon, is situated in the north-central part of the state on the Columbia River, the nation's second largest river. It is the county seat and the largest community in Wasco County. The Dalles is one of Oregon's most historical cities and was known earlier in its history as the town at the end of the Oregon Trail. The city was first incorporated by the Oregon Territorial Government in 1857 as “Dalles City” and was made the county seat shortly thereafter.
