White Salmon to shutdown portion of Jewett Blvd for waterline replacement for 5 weeks starting Monday
White Salmon, Wash., April 9, 2026 — A section of State Route 141 will close to through traffic on weekdays beginning April 13 as the City of White Salmon advances the next phase of its water main replacement project.
The closure, scheduled through May 22, will affect daily travel for residents, commuters and businesses, with detours required during the workweek. The project is aimed at improving long-term water reliability and increasing capacity in parts of the city.
The White Salmon Transmission Main project will replace aging 14-inch water pipe with a larger, more reliable 20-inch transmission main. The upgrade is expected to improve water supply capacity, particularly in areas such as Forrester Drive and Powerhouse Road.
SR 141 will be fully closed Monday through Friday, both day and night, within the project limits. The road will reopen to regular traffic on weekends.
The closure will extend from the intersection of Alternate SR 141 and SR 141 to the top of Bald Mountain, also known as Bald Mountain Corners, between mileposts 4.69 and 3.82.
Drivers needing to go North on SR 141 will be detoured to SR 141 Alternative that abuts the White Salmon River.
During the closure, no through traffic will be permitted in the work zone. Drivers will be directed to alternate routes, with traffic control and signage in place to guide motorists and maintain safety.
Emergency vehicles and school buses will be allowed through the work zone to ensure continued access to critical services.
City officials acknowledged the disruption and said they appreciate the public’s patience as construction continues.
“These improvements are an important step in strengthening the reliability of the City’s water system for the long term,” the city said in a statement.
Project updates will be shared through the City of White Salmon website, the Voyent Alert system, and local media outlets.
