Winter Storm Warning in Effect for the Columbia River Gorge Dec. 22nd-Dec. 25th

Winter weather is in full force this weekend.
A winter storm warning is in effect for the Columbia River Gorge 4p.m. December 22nd to 4 a.m. on December 25th.

Eastern Columbia River Gorge
Includes: Eastern Columbia River Gorge of Washington-Simcoe Highlands, the cities of Arlington, The Dalles, Dufur, Maupin,Moro, White Salmon, Goldendale, and Bickleton
WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM PST FRIDAY.
WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 4 AM PST SUNDAY.
* WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches and ice accumulations of one quarter to one half of an inch. For the Wind Chill Advisory, very cold wind chills. Wind chills as low as 20 below zero.
* WHERE...In Oregon, Eastern Columbia River Gorge of Oregon and North Central Oregon. In Washington, Eastern Columbia River Gorge of Washington and Simcoe Highlands.
* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from 10 PM this evening to 4 AM PST Sunday. For the Wind Chill Advisory, until 10 AM PST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
Western Columbia River Gorge
Includes the cities of Parkdale, Odell, Corbett, Rooster Rock, Multnomah Falls, Cascade Locks, Hood River, North Bonneville,Stevenson, Carson, and Underwood

WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON Dec 22nd TO 10 PM PST SATURDAY.
* WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations of 3 to 6 inches and ice accumulations of 0.4 to 1.0 inches. Winds gusting as high as 75 mph west of Cascade Locks. For the Wind Chill Advisory, very cold wind chills. Wind chills as low as 10 to 15 below zero.
* WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from 4 PM this afternoon to 10 PM PST Saturday. For the Wind Chill Advisory, until 6 AM PST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Expect power outages and tree damage due to the ice. Travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Expect high winds and increasing snowfall to produce blizzard like conditions Thursday evening. Then, expect a mix of sleet and freezing rain to shift east through the Gorge through Friday morning. Accumulating freezing rain expected late Thursday night in the western Columbia Gorge, and throughout the Gorge on Friday. Another round of freezing rain is expected on Saturday.
HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT Dec 22nd UNTIL 1 PM PST FRIDAY, Dec. 23rd.
* WHAT...East winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected at river level. Winds will gust locally to 80 mph near Corbett and potentially as high as 100 mph for the windiest spots such as Crown Point.
* WHERE...Western Columbia River Gorge.
* WHEN...Until 1 PM PST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines encumbered by snow and ice. Power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Very cold temperatures will combine with the wind to produce wind chills near zero to a few degrees below zero.
