Cascade Locks, July 8, 2024 — Observer and avid sailor, aka the old man, Donnell Fasulo captured today an interesting pastime on The Columbia River when the wind falls to an almost standstill.
A rather large group of kayakers group together like lions in wait for the hunt of the great Sternwheeler.
When the red and white behemoth approaches, the kayakers can be seen jockeying their way for the great beast’s waves that flow behind its ever-churning paddle.
Once cast upon the waves, the kayakers push into the crests, digging deep to keep their agile vessels on the downward slope of the wave’s giving energy.
