Your FOMO should be tingling; catch this show if you can Oct. 5
By Tom Peterson
Victor Johnson has plucked a few strings in his lifetime.
He’s also pulled a few.
While you can usually find the guitar player working away on restoring and upgrading the Historic Herbring House on Fourth Street in The Dalles, he’s got other irons in the fire.
Attracting some great musicians to The Dalles is one.
Victor recently worked out a deal to bring Ryan MontBleau to St. Peter’s Landmark in The Dalles on Wednesday, Oct. 5. It is part of the Landmark Concert Series.
Montbleau, a Folk/Pop singer-songwriter is an “artist of rare caliber,” Victor said. He would know.
He has seen a few singer-songwriters come and go in his career.
And Montbleau struck an earthy chord.
“If you like artists who write and sing songs, you do not want to miss this show,” Johnson said on Tuesday, Sept. 27. “Ryan has over 100 million Spotify plays, a catalog of songs that blows me away and he connects with audiences like few people I have ever seen.”
Johnson said he was able to snag Montbleau between his shows in Bend and Portland.
“NPR’s Mountain Stage compared Montbleau’s eloquent soulful songwriting to Bill Withers and James Taylor.” He has 12 albums and four new EP releases: “Wood,” “Fire,” “Air,” and “Water.”
“The elements are truly a wonderful way to showcase Montbleau’s immense talent,” wrote Nicole Lise Feingold in a review on the GratefulWeb. “So far, “Wood” hits the mark with polished, well-made, authentic tracks that are solid, rich, heavy, grounded, and completely natural.”
“What an opportunity to see a nationally touring solo musician in a small town in an historic church with awesome acoustics,” said Derek Fasulo, formerly of The Dalles. His brother Donnell called Montbleau’s cover of Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car “tasty.”
More than 75 of the 150 tickets to the show have been sold already.
