Obituary: Delphine (Dee) Lucille Dillon
Delphine (Dee) Lucille Dillon
Delphine (Dee) Lucille Dillon was born February 8th, 1924 to Luther and Ole Vineyard in Miami, Oklahoma, where she attended school in Wyandot, Oklahoma, graduating in 1942. Dee followed her parents to Hood River and married Glenn W. Taylor in 1946. Their son, Glenn D, was born in 1950. The couple divorced in 1966. Dee worked for the Oregon Washington Telephone Company into the early 1970s.
Gary and Dee were married on November 28th, 1969 and made their home in Hood River. It was with Pastor Kintner, of First Baptist Church, that Dee trusted Jesus Christ with her life. As a result of entrusting Christ, she shared in multiple ministries at First Baptist working with young children and various children’s ministries. She also served as both monitor and female counselor with Baptist Christian School into the late 1980s. She spent long hours in ministering to students and families after hours, by making her home a place where that could be accomplished.
She has continued to serve in the church at Faith Bible Church, (formerly First Baptist Church), assisting the senior’s ministry by planning monthly fellowship activities; her favorite being the coast trips in June and October. Both Dee and Gary enjoyed the coast and made numerous trips throughout the years. Dee also made their home a most suitable environment for Bible studies and lunchtime meals for the senior group.
Church ministry was not her only involvement; she also served many years with the Hood River Sports Club leading pool exercise classes for general therapy and wellness. She also assisted her son, Glenn D and Mark Moga with their respective chiropractic businesses in Hood River for a number of years.
Dee passed peacefully and was received into her Lord’s hands early September 3rd, 2021with Gary at her side.
Dee is survived by husband Gary, son Glenn D. Taylor and wife Margaret Taylor, stepdaughter Karen Erwert (husband David), stepsons David Dillon and Rick Dillon (wife Dorothy), their children, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Olan Vineyard.
