Motorcycle Crash on I-84 on Monday Leads to DUII Arrest of Beaverton Man

Wasco County, Ore. Sept. 3, 2024— A Beaverton man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) after a motorcycle crash on Interstate 84 in Wasco County on Monday evening, according to the Oregon State Police.
Troopers responded to the crash involving a blue 2016 Honda motorcycle at Milepost 75 on the westbound side of the interstate around 5:06 p.m.
The driver, identified as Jose Manuel Avila, 49, was transported to a local hospital by medics.
Avila reportedly displayed signs of impairment and admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day, authorities said.
A search warrant was obtained, and a blood sample was taken, which revealed a blood-alcohol content of 0.112%, according to police.
Avila was cited for driving while suspended and driving uninsured. He was also issued a criminal citation for DUII. The motorcycle, which was damaged in the crash, was towed by Rivers Edge Towing in The Dalles.
Avila is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 30.
