Multnomah County, Ore. Sept. 3, 2024 — Oregon State Police arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants after he was found driving erratically and lost control of his vehicle on Interstate 84 late Monday.
Troopers responded to multiple reports of a white Chrysler Sebring failing to maintain a lane, speeding, and taking photos out of the sunroof while traveling westbound on I-84 near Mile Post 137.
The vehicle was not located until it became disabled at Mile Post 41 after losing both driver-side wheels, according to police.
The driver, identified as Tyler Dayton Oxford-Neikirk, exhibited signs of impairment, including slurred speech, bloodshot and glassy eyes, and poor balance. Officers also reported detecting the odor of alcohol on his breath.
Oxford-Neikirk consented to field sobriety tests, which he failed, and was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. Police found an empty bottle of vodka inside the vehicle.
The vehicle, which was blocking the left lane, was towed as a hazard. Oxford-Neikirk was transported to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office in Troutdale, where he provided a breath sample showing a blood alcohol content of 0.13%. He was cited and released into the care of his grandfather.
Oxford-Neikirk is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 1.
