Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer will be host a Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, June 29th, 2024 from 9:00 a.m.. to 12:00 p.m. at Dallesport Community Center located at 136 6th Ave in Dallesport, Washington.

Dallesport, WA, June 21, 2024 — Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer will be host a Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, June 29th, 2024 from 9:00 a.m.. to 12:00 p.m. at Dallesport Community Center located at 136 6th Ave in Dallesport, Washington.

Sheriff Songer’s Next Town Hall Meeting in Dallesport

At 9:00 A.M, we will be discussing the role of the Elected County Sheriff.  

At 10:00 A.M., we will also be discussing the pro's and con's of the County Commissioners Lori Zoller and Jacob Anderson closing down the Klickitat County Jail and contracting our inmates to be housed with Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility (NORCOR) in The Dalles, Oregon.

In my TOWN HALL MEETING, the citizens attending will be allowed to verbally ask questions and make comments without their questions or comments being screened by a moderator.

Option (1) Yes or No, Contract our inmate housing with NORCOR in The Dalles, Oregon and close down the Klickitat County Sheriff's Office Jail.

Option (2) Yes or No, The Klickitat County Commissioners take over the Klickitat County Jail and appoint a Director to run the jail and report to the Board of County Commissioners.

Option (3) Yes or No, Leave the Klickitat Jail under Sheriff Bob Songer and make whatever improvements that need to be made in the operations of the jail.

Option (4) Yes or No, Add three above Options to the November Ballot and let the people vote on which Option they want.  

Closing the Klickitat County Jail is a major issue and the citizens we serve should have the opportunity to vote on one of the three Options.
