200 teens descend on docents in downtown TD; It was historic
Seventh-Graders at The Dalles Middle School took in some local history today, March 14 as local docents expounded on the history of people featured in the new murals painted in the downtown corridor.
Teacher Kirsten Benko and others helped organize the event that had the teenagers walk from the middle school to downtown The Dalles.
Some 200 students made the trip and toured to different murals, learning local history.
Chris Zuckin who was presenting on 1936 Pulitzer Prize Winner H.L. Davis said it was awesome to be giving local students a history lesson on local characters who excelled in the community.
Zukin said the idea of bringing Walldogs to town to paint the murals included this future use of giving locals and students some highlights on local history.
