A tale of two projects

Construction workers were developing the foundation for the new skill center at Columbia Gorge Community College in The Dalles this morning, Wednesday, Sept. 30. The project is just west of The Dalles Readiness Center off Scenic Drive. Bremik Construction Inc. of Portland is the Construction Manager General Contractor. The project also includes a second building, a new dormitory for students.

And just to the west at Sorosis Park, brush cleanup continues after dozens of pine trees were cut down after it was discovered they had been invaded by wood-boring beetles. The Ips Beetle is to blame for this destruction, quickly taking over the pine trees in the park and killing all of them in a short 3-year span.
