Alleged DUII driver flees scene after hitting Honda on Highway 26 near Warm Springs

The Dalles, Ore., Dec. 12, 2024 — A man who allegedly hit another car on Highway 26 in Wasco County, rolled his own pickup, and then fled the scene on foot was arrested late Wednesday.
The two-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 26 near Warm Springs at about milepost 78, according to the Oregon State Police. The incident occurred around 11:56 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, and involved a Ford Ranger and a Honda Civic, the report states.
Troopers reported the Ford Ranger failed to stay in its lane and collided with the Honda Civic. The pickup veered off the roadway, rolled, and came to rest on its driver’s side. The driver of the Ford Ranger fled the scene on foot but was later located by Warm Springs Police and returned to the crash site.
The driver, identified as Francisco M. Caudillo-Dimas, 47, was arrested and lodged at NORCOR on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, and failure to perform the duties of a driver (hit-and-run). Troopers said Caudillo-Dimas refused to perform field sobriety tests but later provided a breath sample with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.11% 0.03 % over the legal limit.
In addition to the charges, Caudillo-Dimas was cited for failure to drive within a lane, driving without a valid operator’s license, and driving uninsured.
The Ford Ranger sustained significant damage and was towed from the scene by Barnett Towing & Service of Maupin, Oregon.
No injuries were reported in the crash.
