The Brothers Reed play the Bargeway's Waterfront Wednesday, Sept. 18.
Despite their brotherhood, Aaron and Phil Reed didn’t start playing music together until 2014 after Phil left their hometown of St. Charles, Missouri to join Aaron in the unsullied mountains of the American Northwest. Their style evokes finger-picking folk singers of the 60’s and 70’s with a contemporary edge. Cultivated from years of performing in bands playing heavy metal, reggae, rock, punk, country, and funk, their musical diversity is at the root of their seamless folk-style.

About the event
The Stand Down is a one day event that provides a one-stop connection for veterans in our community to key services. This event includes breakfast and lunch, clothing and hygiene supplies as well as resources for housing, employment, medical care, legal assistance and much more.
Piano Heist Cancels Tour
Darn it, just as we thought we were gonna learn more about Piano Heist this week, some major complications with getting Visas into the United States have put the Kibosh on the upcoming Piano Heist show for the Mid Columbia Concert Association scheduled for Sept. 17. Sources say the Piano Heist Duo are probably stranded in the Vancouver, B.C., region of the world. Other sources say that people could be waiting up to two years for obtaining Visas from The Office(s) That Issue Visas, and it’s unknown at this time where Piano Heist is on the waiting list.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, our first concert of the season, Piano Heist, had to cancel their PNW tour due to a US VISA backlog issue. This is an unfortunate situation for us as we were really looking forward to kicking off the season with this group. Please stay tuned as we try to come up with a quick solution however with only 2 weeks away, it is doubtful. Know that MCCCA will either reschedule them at a later date and/or bring in another artist at a later date and make sure we have five concerts this season. The Dalles Art Center presents artists Mary Rollins and Peggy Ohlson on Thursday, Oct. 3 for an Opening Night Reception, 5-7 p.m. The opening night reception is a celebration of the artist's creativity and a way for the public to meet the artists. About The Event
Over their accomplished careers, Mary Rollins and Peggy Ohlson have been pursuing joy in their work and have brought joy to many through their compositions. Both painters are accomplished and recognized Mid-Columbia Gorge area artists.
Mary has earned a Platinum Merit Award from the Watercolor Society of Oregon and her painting was awarded First Prize Winner in the International Watercolor Masters competition and will be included in the IWM Exhibition slated for May 2024 in Shropshire, England.
Peggy Ohlson is known for her colorful oil paintings that captures the soft, gentle aspects of the landscape around her, while her subject matter – that of orchards, gardens, the rolling hills and wild flowers of the Columbia River Gorge enhances and complements her lyrical brushstroke. Both artists have spent decades developing their technical skills while evolving their artistic vision. This show is an opportunity to experience the full breadth of their mastery and talent.

Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen are true masters of progressive bluegrass. Thunder Ridge is a straight-ahead bluegrass band from Portland, OR. The traditional five-piece band is made up of banjo, guitar, mandolin, bass and fiddle. Allow them to take you down a path of yesteryear with a good old fashioned sound inspired by the masters of bluegrass, and sprinkled with a few originals!

The Hood River Hops Fest returns for its 20th year, celebrating the fresh-hopped beers of our beloved region.
Awarded silver medal for best beer festival from the Willamette Week, Oregon Beer Awards, the Hood River Hops Fest is an annual celebration of beer’s bitter friend, freshly harvested hops. Hood River County is surrounded by world-renowned hop-growing regions, and since 2003 brewers have gathered each October in Hood River to share their fresh-hop beer creations. The family-friendly event features more than 30 breweries with more than 40 fresh-hop beers, plus a variety of food vendors, live music, and an awesome collectible tasting glass.

It’s a live Illustration and book event with John Patrick Green, author of the Investigators series on Sunday, Sept. 22, at the Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River. Green will be discussing the new Investigators book, “Class Action,” and will be doing a live drawing presentation and answering questions at the end of his presentation. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and the presentation will start promptly at 11 a.m. Book signing and photos with the author to follow immediately after the presentation. About the Bands
The Quick & Easy Boys are a power-trio out of Portland, Oregon who creates their own blend of rock and roll. Imagine the Minutemen, the Police, and Band of Gypsy’s rolled into one. Formed in 2005, The Quick & Easy Boys quickly made a name for themselves in Eugene, Oregon before relocating to Portland and becoming a renown nationally touring act. About the show
"The Rocky Horror Show" is a cult-classic musical that originally premiered on stage in 1973. Written by Richard O'Brien, the show is a humorous and campy tribute to science fiction and horror B-movies. It follows the story of a young engaged couple, Brad and Janet, who stumble upon the eccentric mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a self-proclaimed "sweet transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania." The mansion is inhabited by an assortment of bizarre characters, including Frank-N-Furter's creation, a muscle-bound man named Rocky. The show is known for its catchy rock and pop tunes, outrageous costumes, with fans often dressing up as characters. It has gained a dedicated following over the years and remains a unique and beloved theatrical experience.

In late 2019, Sea Caves released Across the Water and received glowing reviews and a dedicated fanbase in the Pacific Northwest. As momentum was building and they were set to embark on a West Coast tour, the pandemic brought a quick halt to their plans. During this time, as some relations frayed and others grew, Sydney Rohrs and Shiloh Halsey kept meeting at the park and writing songs, and a new album began to take shape. The result is a set of heartfelt songs colored with rich instrumentation, lush harmonies, and catchy melodies, all interwoven with Rohrs’ dreamy vocals and themes exploring the disconnection from community and family and the longing for things past and yet to be known.
The intricate guitar lines, dynamic bass playing, looping flutes, and soaring melodies we’ve come to know from Sea Caves shine through on the album.
Lincoln Crockett has been dedicated to his craft for many years, residing in the serene and picturesque Trout Lake, WA. The Portland based band Glitterfox has released five singles in just six months under their new record label Kill Rock Stars, with two more arriving this Spring. The band’s been growing steadily since “Drive” came out in August 2023, with their indie rock recipethat deftly balances Southern songwriting shine and nostalgia-fueled anthems.The four-piece band’s songwriters and front persons, married couple Solange Igoa andAndrea Walker, have always channeled their personal struggles as well as experiences as queer, neurodiverse individuals into their songwriting.Bassist Eric Stalker and drummer Blaine Heinonen bring a love of Americana, grunge,and dance music into the mix. Mega Cat is a disembodied multidimensional being most discernibly experienced as sound waves. It was first discovered in a basement home studio in the Central District of Seattle by audio chemists Aaron Benson (drums, percussion, guitar), Kim West (synthesizer, piano) and Ryan Devlin (bass, guitar.) Upon first encountering Mega Cat, all three researchers experienced a loss of time, body dissociation, euphoria, and ego death. Reports of holographic thought, enhanced perception, and minor instances of levitation have been widely documented from just one encounter with mega cat. Though the being doesn’t seem to use traditional language to communicate, Mega Cat transmits instrumental narratives that feel familiar to fans of 20th century science fiction, afro-beat, hip hop, and psychedelic music.
