Bargeway Pub lights fuse on great week of music
Huckleberry Road plays Waterfront Wednesday at Bargeway Pub on July 3 as they kick off a week of musical fireworks.
“Even in duo mode, Huckleberry Road centers on great songs and musicianship. Both Robert Clark and Anthony Vairetta are excellent pickers. Vairetta in particular can shred like a metal maniac when it’s warranted. Add on the duo’s gift for deft lyrics—presented in Clark’s rich, tuneful voice—and you have a recipe for great country rock that sucks you in with its classic song-craft and storytelling, according to a story written by Mark Earnest in the Reno News & Review. They are joined on stage by longtime friend and drummer Dillon Secklin.
Al Hare returns for the Fourth of July for Tacos and Tequila Thursday. He returns on Sunday, July 7 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Jamie Nasario from Echo, Oregon hits the stage on Friday, July 5th with an afterburner show.
Jeff Carrell plays Saturday, July 6 at 1 p.m. Might need a cold beer as Jeff heat’s up a classic TD summer day with some hot chords.

The Dalles Library and Northern Wasco County Parks & Rec announce the 2nd annual Music & Magic in the Park, The Dalles City Park, Wednesday evenings starting at 6 p.m., June 19 through August 14 (no event July 3). We encourage families to bring a picnic supper and come prepared to have fun! Each week will feature a different performer, whether music or magic, it is always family friendly and always free of charge.

Auditions for "Steel Magnolias" will be held at Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River on Sunday, July 14 at 1 p.m. and Monday, July 15 at 6 p.m. It is not necessary to attend both days but it does give you the opportunity to read more and with different people.

The show begins rehearsals on Monday, July 22 and will rehearse Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6-8 p.m. You must be available for a majority of rehearsals but some conflicts will be ok. The show runs September 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 27, and 28. Evening shows begin at 7:30 p.m. and matinees begin at 2 p.m.

While the band itself is making regional waves in a genre underrepresented by female and queer bands (Americana/Country/Rock); queer female engineers and producers are an anomaly in this genre (with the recent exception of Brandi Carlile!).

Polyrhythmics sound originated in Seattle’s underground deep funk scene combining impossibly tight grooves with bold brass and hypnotic percussion that showcased elements of R&B, progressive jazz, and Afrobeat which defined the instrumental group’s early era sound.

Chris brings bandmate and collaborator Malcolm Roberts into the fold on bass guitar and harmony and Seth McDonald to fill it out on keyboard and harmony (member of hip-hop band All Star Opera). These different perspectives all pulled together create the vibe that is Small Paul.

Left On Tenth is a 5-piece indie rock band based out of Portland, Oregon. From pants-down horn solos to crowd antics L.O.T. will leave you dancing, smiling, or at least with an ear worm. The main goal of their show is to have the most fun possible.

Weaving together modern and traditional styles of American music, Never Come Down is a Portland, Oregon based 5-piece composed of Joe Suskind (guitar), Crystal Lariza (vocals), Brian Alley (banjo), Kaden Hurst (mandolin), and Ben Ticknor (bass). Their dedication to thoughtful songwriting and dynamic arrangements highlight polished technical skills and a commitment to listening to each other. Formed in 2018, the band began touring extensively- steadily cultivating a passionate fan base at home in the Pacific Northwest, and eventually around the country.

Sean McLean and the Vibetenders are a rootsy jamband with elements of soul, indie, blues, funk and americana. The frontman Sean McLean is best known as the sax and guitar player for local dancefloor instigators, World's Finest. He can also be seen playing around the Pacific northwest making guest appearances with bands from the jam scene such as Umphrey's McGee, Leftover Salmon, ALO, Andy Frasco, Lespecial and The Kitchen Dwellers to name a few. Sean's Music features original songs, reworked World's Finest numbers as well as a clever blend of classic and unique covers. Every Vibetenders show is a great time and, of course, guaranteed to be the perfect vibe.

Grupo Masato is a multi-ethnic Portland-based band that plays highly irresistible danceable music from Latin America. A powerful combination of Chicha, Cumbia and Afro Peruvian music that invites all ages to meet on the dance floor and celebrate our diversity. Chicha music grew out of the Andean music in Peru mixed with Cumbia rhythms from Colombia, and were transformed and reinterpreted by electric guitars, Fender spring reverb amplifiers, complex African based percussions and the discovery of psychedelic rock. Grupo Masato explores and celebrates this diverse music with a powerful show that will make you want to dance. Grupo Masato’s music is as intoxicating as the beverage it's named after, a powerful liquor from the Amazon jungle in South America, made out of fermented yucca.

The band was founded in 1997 by charismatic singer/songwriter, guitarist and trumpeter, Billy Joe Huels. Huels' songs draw inspiration from the roots of rock, rhythm and blues, honky-tonk and jazz. The Portland based band Glitterfox has released five singles in just six months under their new record label Kill Rock Stars, with two more arriving this Spring. The band’s been growing steadily since “Drive” came out in August 2023, with their indie rock recipe that deftly balances Southern songwriting shine and nostalgia-fueled anthems. The four-piece band’s songwriters and front persons, married couple Solange Igoa and Andrea Walker, have always channeled their personal struggles as well as experiences as queer, neurodiverse individuals into their songwriting.
Bassist Eric Stalker and drummer Blaine Heinonen bring a love of Americana, grunge, and dance music into the mix. All of these influences can be heard on the band’s latest singles, produced by Chris Funk of The Decemberists, and in their spirited live shows as they prepare for their full-length album debut in 2025

About the Band
New Constellations - the ethereal brainchild of lifelong sidekicks Harlee Case and Josh Smith encapsulates a sonic dreamscape of eager melodies, striking guitar hooks, and celestial vocals that softly tangles listeners into a web of cosmic glory.
After 15 years of working on music separately, they have teamed up to form New Constellations. Blending powerful vocals, dancy beats, and catchy guitar hooks, they have caught the attention of listeners with their debut single “Hot Blooded’ earning 27 million streams so far. Shortly after Gorillaz added "Hot Blooded" to a playlist of their current favorites track and shared their music on social platforms . Skyraker’s sound incorporates elements of stoner rock, psychedelic, punk, and space rock in a carefully considered musical package. The band bridges sometimes devastatingly heavy riffs with other times atmospheric, haunting melodic structure and a willingness to explore a large expanse of emotional space both lyrically and musically. Though Skyraker’s sound draws inspiration from Clutch, Queens of the Stone Age, All Them Witches, and, perhaps inescapably, Pink Floyd - the style is unmistakably of the band’s own making.
All three members of Skyraker are seasoned veterans of the NW rock scene. Jason Baker and Ben Carey founded and performed in the Portland, OR based alt-prog rock band Oxcart in 2004, recording 3 studio albums and inadvertently spawning the acclaimed Pink Floyd tribute band that later became known as Pigs on the Wing. Drummer Bryan Fairfield has widely toured the US with the Portland-based rock bands Kieskagato and System and Station, and is currently the drummer for Pigs on the Wing. Jason Baker is a guitarist and vocalist for Pigs on the Wing, owner of Sasquatch Recording studio, and the creative force behind side-project Citizen Vs. Narwhal.

The Fourth Wall
The Fourth Wall are a melodic noise rock band from Portland, OR, originally from Oahu, HI. What is the price we pay for joy, and is it worth it? The thread of this question runs taut through The Fourth Wall’s Return Forever, a fever dream of a record that unearths unresolved complexities of the immigrant experience in nine chapters. Throughout the album, songwriter Stephen Agustin circles a fire that feels so bright and yet so unknowable; there are not many answers to be found, only a disruption, the emergence of a world seen with new eyes.
The nostalgic tones of a Juno-106 combine with ambient layers, sparkling guitars, and airy, bittersweet vocals to define Portland dream pop band Starover Blue. Founding members Kendall Sallay and Dirk Milotz began the group in 2007 while studying music at San Jose State University, then relocated to Portland in 2016 where they reformed as a six-piece. The band’s penchant for lush vocal harmonies, textural experimentation, and subtle use of odd meters appeals to fans of acts ranging from Cocteau Twins, Beach House, and Big Thief to The Joy Formidable, The Velvet Teen, and Wye Oak.

What do you get when you blend the genres of americana, folk, country, and rock from all over the US and infuse it into the Pacific Northwest? We consider ourselves defined by not one genre but a collective of thoughts and influences from all over. That’s the secret sauce here. The band is based in the Columbia River Gorge, a natural playground just east of Portland, Oregon. The whole band shares the common love for recreating in the outdoors and performing music, so there is no wonder we get such a natural, fluid, original sound.
Growing up in the shadow of the Santa Cruz mountains, Mac spent her days strolling through the redwoods and tracing her footsteps on the grounds of her grandfather's cattle ranch in the North Bay. Such a setting that would provide her with an undying appreciation and respect for all things old in age and of the earth. Mac discovered her love for music digging through her parents' record collection, emerging and adorning herself with not just the tunes, but the entire look and aesthetic of the music Mecca, Laurel Canyon. Drawing inspiration from Joan Baez, Gram Parsons, Jackson Browne and Buffalo Springfield, she began forging her own songs and style from her bouts with love, loss, tragedy and tranquility.

I Draw Slow has consistently redefined acoustic roots music for over ten years. Formed in Dublin Ireland, the award winning five piece is led by siblings and songwriters Dave and Louise Holden. They have released four critically acclaimed albums. Their last album, “Turn Your Face To The Sun,” was released on Compass records in Nashville, one of the leading independent labels in the U.S. and went to number one in the Irish charts. Their music has been licensed for Film,TV and advertising and is widely recorded and covered by other artists.
This band - together since 2005 - has made a real name for itself in the Vancouver/Portland acoustic music scene. Collectively these women have decades of experience playing and singing in harmony. MISTY MAMAS serve up Home-Style bluegrass filled with powerful harmonies, traditional and original songs as well as tasty instrumentals combining the American genres of bluegrass, old time, gospel, folk and country music.
Runaway Train Bluegrass Band
A south Puget Sound-based band that has been delighting audiences with their unique blend of traditional bluegrass and boundary-pushing music since 2000. The band, which features guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo, and strong lead and harmony vocals, has performed at numerous major festivals and events throughout the Northwest. With a rich history and a dedication to their craft, Runaway Train is a must-see for bluegrass fans in the region.
Setting roots in the high and dry Central Oregon desert, Skillethead calls forth the best of bluegrass old and new. They ground themselves firmly in the bluegrass traditions of driving fiddle tunes, layered harmonies, and single mics, all the while weaving in inspiration and originality gleaned from genres far and wide. You can expect to hear a Stanley Brothers number right alongside a stirring original or a rollicking rock cover done in Skillethead's own unique fashion. The spectrum reaches far and wide, the bluegrass universe is expanding, and Skillethead is on that ride!
Playing in the Portland, Oregon region. Sunny South plays bluegrass with an emphasis on traditional styles like Flatt and Scruggs, Doc Watson and Bill Monroe. Sunny South started playing in the 80's with Sonny Hammond as lead singer and band leader. They played all over the pacific northwest and produced two albums. After Sonny passed on, the band continued playing bluegrass and honoring Sonny. Mike and Dave are founding members of Sunny South and have added Steve Reischman, Dee Johnson and Aaron Stocek to fill out the band. Sunny South is an experienced band, both professional and comfortable on the stage. They put on a great show that audiences enjoy.
