Celebrate the Enchanting World of Fungi at the Stevenson Mushroom Festival - New Festival Draws Mushroom Lovers and the Fungi-Curious of All Ages to the Columbia River Gorge!
The Stevenson Mushroom Festival is set to enchant attendees of all ages with a delightful celebration of the fascinating world of mushrooms. Kicking off on the evening of Friday, October 18th, the festival begins with the Mushroom Gala at the Columbia Gorge Museum, where guests 21+ can indulge in gourmet tastings by Cherry City Catering, imbibe adaptogenic cocktails, beer and wine, dance to the beats of DJ FRACTAL and strut their “Fungi Flare” for a chance to win best dressed.
The festivities continue Saturday, Oct. 19, with the much-anticipated “Mushroom Hunt,” a curated adventure throughout the scenic town of Stevenson, Washington. Participants will receive a passport book to collect stamps from various locations, adding an interactive twist to their exploration. The “Mushroom Hunt” features a foraging activity, crafts, story time, and a delightful Fungi Fashion Show for kids, making it a family-friendly event. Attendees can enjoy discounts on mushroom and foraging related gifts and gear from participating retailers, savor mushroom-themed food specials at nearby restaurants and attend workshops and demonstrations. Live music at Walking Man Brewing from 6-8 p.m. will round out the evening with a festive atmosphere.
In addition, the festival includes educational workshops, demonstrations, and a vibrant showcasing of mushroom-themed products throughout town. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with fellow enthusiasts, gain valuable knowledge about foraging, and enjoy unique culinary offerings featuring a variety of regional mushrooms.
“We are thrilled to bring the Stevenson Mushroom Festival to life this year,” said Tabatha Wiggins, Event Coordinator. “Our goal is to create a fun and engaging weekend experience that highlights the beauty and diversity of mushrooms while showcasing local businesses and locations throughout our beautiful town.”

About the events
For nearly 20 years, the Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association has brought outstanding performances and incredible musical variety to the Gorge. CGOA’s upcoming 2024-25 season is no different. “Beloved Favorites and Exciting Surprises” includes all of CGOA’s ensembles and monthly events that will appeal to a wide range of music lovers and theatre goers.
The Gorge Sinfonietta will be featured in performances in November, March and June. Conductor Mark Steighner has programmed masterworks like Brahms’ First Symphony and Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, mixed with music by female composers such as the American musical pioneer, Amy Beach. The Sinfonietta season begins in November with a concert that includes Sibelius’ inspired Finlandia, a brilliant trumpet concerto with soloist (and Wy’east Middle School music teacher) Anders Foster and Amy Beach’s Celtic-influenced Gaelic Symphony.
The Voci Community Choir, under the direction of Dan Kenealy, continues to grow in numbers and musical brilliance. The Voci Choir presents its annual holiday program in December and a special concert of folk song arrangements in April. The Jazz Collective Big Band kicks off a season of performances with a concert at the Cascade Locks Pavilion on October 19. Other highlights of the Jazz Collective season include a Valentines Day dance at the Ruins, dances at the Elks and a return to the Columbia Gorge Toyota and Honda Showroom in June.
Last year’s CGOA Stages production of Bat Boy: The Musical was a triumphant return to the stage at the Columbia Center for the Arts. For 2025, Ashly Will returns to direct Dolly Parton’s musical based on the hit comedy “9 to 5” in May. Other special performances this season include the annual Chamber Music Concert in January, a school concert in Spring and more. Yngwie Johann Malmsteen is a world-renowned guitarist from Stockholm, Sweden. As a young boy, Yngwie originally had no interest in music, but that all changed on Sept. 18, 1970 when he saw a TV special on the late Jimi Hendrix. Seven-year-old Yngwie watched in awe as Hendrix blasted the audience with torrents of feedback and sacrificed his guitar in flames. The day Jimi Hendrix died, the guitar-playing Yngwie was born. Yngwie Malmsteen's career has spanned over 40 years with over twenty albums to his name. The Hood River Hops Fest returns for its 20th year, celebrating the fresh-hopped beers of our beloved region.
Awarded silver medal for best beer festival from the Willamette Week, Oregon Beer Awards, the Hood River Hops Fest is an annual celebration of beer’s bitter friend, freshly harvested hops. Hood River County is surrounded by world-renowned hop-growing regions, and since 2003 brewers have gathered each October in Hood River to share their fresh-hop beer creations. The family-friendly event features more than 30 breweries with more than 40 fresh-hop beers, plus a variety of food vendors, live music, and an awesome collectible tasting glass.

About the Film
The Dixie Fire torched much of that trail system, but also provided an opportunity to reimagine how trails could be used as a tool for fire management, economic recovery, conservation and connection to the places they call home. Now SBTS is looking to practices of the past to create a path to a better future. In 2021, the Dixie Fire devastated Northern California’s Lost Sierra region, burning multiple towns to the ground and upending entire communities. It was one of an increasing number of mega wildfires in recent years, the result of climate change and 150 years of forest mismanagement. At the time, the Sierra Buttes Trails Stewardship was working on a massive trail network intended to infuse new life into the area’s struggling economy, which once relied on resource extraction such as mining and logging. “In Odesa, people find togetherness. In Odesa, all will laugh and sing." Ukraine’s Kommuna Lux validates these words from an old poem, performing their own style called "Odesa Gangsta Folk:" thrilling klezmer music and common gangster folk songs from their hometown, all with a dose of rocket fuel.
Odesites have always been known for their great tolerance, easy-going lifestyle, and very special sense of humor. This multicultural port city is world-famous for its significant Jewish culture and for being the birthplace of the Urban Chanson genre.
The streets are rich with nostalgia and a bohemian Black Sea coastal vibe. These are set to a timeless new level by the vibrant performances of the lovely singer Bagrat Tsurkan and his charming musicians. Kommuna Lux plays joyful songs and melodies from Odesa and all Eastern Europe in spiced up arrangements.

About the Band
Hailing from Washington’s Whidbey Island, guitarist and singer Nathaniel Talbot, alongside Trout Lake’s mandolinist and vocalist Lincoln Crockett, have joined forces in a musical partnership two decades in the making. With the addition of Whidbey Island’s Keegan Harshman on upright bass, this trio is crafting some of the most compelling and innovative music of their careers.
Their sound—self-described as shoegazer freefolk—is a sophisticated blend of American roots music with elements of pop, jazz, and funk, half-tethered to tradition and half stemming from the Pacific Northwest’s legacy of freedom and innovation. Now on their third seasonal tour, their shows continue to draw larger crowds and more enthusiastic responses, with listeners and fellow musicians alike praising the trio’s musicianship and artistry.
Nathaniel Talbot’s songwriting and complex fingerstyle guitar work are inspired by influences like Bill Frisell, Kelly Joe Phelps, and Elliott Smith, while Crockett brings a modern folk and progressive bluegrass flair, blending fast picking, rich chording, and ear-catching melodies. Together, they create tight acoustic arrangements and lush vocal harmonies, often surprising listeners by venturing into the unexpected.

About the band
Raunchy. Crass. Spirited. Bluegrass genre music playing for the joy of music. The Chicken $#!t Gamblers formed in 2017 when Luke Maddux (Guitar) and Neil Mangrum (Guitar) with Aaron Meader (Mandolin) met at Friends picking circles. The trio brought Jaimie Meldrum (Fiddle) and Bassist Jess Kunze (also of Countryside Ride) into the group and the chemistry of the unit congealed. Over the next year, they honed their harmonies, and sounds and pushed harder into melting bluegrass pickin’, rhythmic jams, pop culture inspired bluegrass medleys and smooth 3 part vocal harmonies. Longtime band friend Rory Johnson (Banjo) joined in 2019, the group has locked into a steady rhythm of performing rowdy and explosive shows around the pacific northwest. Ronnie Ontiveros jumped into the Bass slot in 2022 after Jess left to pursue a Bakery/coffeeshop business in Trout Lake.

About the show
"The Rocky Horror Show" is a cult-classic musical that originally premiered on stage in 1973. Written by Richard O'Brien, the show is a humorous and campy tribute to science fiction and horror B-movies. It follows the story of a young engaged couple, Brad and Janet, who stumble upon the eccentric mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a self-proclaimed "sweet transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania." The mansion is inhabited by an assortment of bizarre characters, including Frank-N-Furter's creation, a muscle-bound man named Rocky. The show is known for its catchy rock and pop tunes, outrageous costumes, with fans often dressing up as characters. It has gained a dedicated following over the years and remains a unique and beloved theatrical experience.

Boy Named Sue is a rowdy horn band tribute to Johnny Cash and other country legends. Fronted by Cuchulain, a low-voiced songwriter with a wry wit, the band performs country favorites from the Man in Black himself, as well as Garth Brooks, Josh Turner, Dolly Parton, and Willie Nelson. Sure to be a crowd favorite, Cuchulain's band opens with a short set of originals before bringing the house down with time-tested honky-tonkin classics.
Cuchulain is a low-voiced songwriter with a wry wit. The NPR Music-featured folk singer released an album of long distance pandemic collaborations called FEAT on Nov 5, 2021 that was called "an as-yet-unpublished portion of the Great American Songbook." Cuchulain's deep baritone and clever lyrics have drawn comparisons to Randy Newman, Leonard Cohen, and Johnny Cash.

Mimi Gilbert (they/them) is an independent artist who has spent the better part of the last 10 years living, touring and creating music in Australia and New Zealand. Previously based in Melbourne, now back in Los Angeles, the Californian born artist, found their love for performing at the age of 15, playing around the streets of American cities. Mimi has toured with Julia Jacklin, Angie McMahon and Nadia Reid and shares a similarly deeply-crafted, folk-inflected approach to their songwriting.
2024 brings a new album from Mimi, titled undrowning, set for release in October, via COHORT.
Les Ailes is the indie music project of PNW-based singer/songwriter Rylie DeGarmo, synthesizing her early jazz melodic influences with a folk honesty derived from formative years spent writing songs in the American south. After cowriting and releasing an EP with her musician father in their hometown of Seattle, DeGarmo spent much of her twenties sojourning across the southern united states developing her own writing style characterized by textural rhythm guitar in unique tunings and a clear, distinctive voice that pulls at the heartstrings, waxing nostalgic. She independently released a debut full-length record as Les Ailes (Tennessee, 2021), followed by a steady stream of EPs and singles marking every bend in the road, the past lives and emergent futures of a dream-spinning folk writer in transit.
