Battle Ground man allegedly pulls 9mm in I-84 Road Rage Incident near Biggs Junction

The Dalles, Ore., June 22, 2026 A Washington man was cited on multiple charges after allegedly pointing a handgun at another driver during a reported road rage incident on Interstate 84 in Sherman County, according to the Oregon State Police.

Troopers responded at 9:22 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, to a report of a menacing incident involving a firearm near milepost 105 westbound on Interstate 84 near Biggs Junction.

According to Oregon State Police, the victim, identified as 48-year-old Salem man, reported that the driver of a white Chevrolet Colorado pointed a small handgun at him following a road rage encounter.

Troopers, assisted by the Wasco County Sheriff's Office, located the suspect vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near Milepost 77 westbound on I-84 near The Dalles.

The driver, identified as 50-year-old Clayton Gill Gunderson of Battle Ground, Washington, denied pointing or displaying a firearm, police said.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the vehicle at the scene. During the search, troopers located a small 9mm handgun in the center console. The firearm was seized as evidence.

Gunderson was cited and released on charges of menacing and unlawful use of a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in Wasco County Circuit Court on July 17.

A 16-year-old male passenger was also in the vehicle at the time of the stop. No injuries were reported
