Tom Olson of Dufur excavates dirt and rock while Glenn Harding measures the depth this morning, Tuesday, Oct. 20. They are excavating for a foundation for a new home in the 1600 block of East 19th St. in The Dalles. The house is being built into a hillside, and a large footing is required. Olson Excavating’s Loren Sudan was working nearby with a Bobcat, clearing away the dirt and rock Olson was digging from the corner of the property. The three have good weather to look forward to today with a high of 65 degrees. But prognosticators are calling for a chill over the next four days with highs dropping into the 40s on Friday and Saturday.
