Big Week for Downtown TD: tricks, treats, and improving streets

The Dalles, Ore., Oct. 27, 2025 — Downtown The Dalles will be buzzing with community events this week, as local businesses and organizations prepare for meetings, Halloween fun, and the start of the holiday season.
Looking down on Federal Street and the now-graveled and fenced site where Tony’s Town & Country was located prior to demolition. Urban Renewal will use the site for staging materials in the Federal Street Plaza build. At the same time, the city remains open to hearing about proposed projects for the location, however, no formal request for ideas are currently being solicited.
Community Meeting — Thursday, Oct. 30
A public meeting on Investing in Downtown will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall. The session will provide updates on the planned First Street upgrades and the new Federal Street Plaza. Downtown Trick-or-Treat — Friday, 3 to 5 p.m.
Businesses are invited to join the annual Downtown Trick-or-Treat event. Participation pumpkins and candy will be distributed Wednesday and Thursday, or businesses may use the attached flyer. No registration is required.
Community members are encouraged to donate candy at collection tubs located at Skookum Outfitters, The Work Shop, Columbia Bank’s downtown branch, and Freebridge Brewing.
Special thanks go to The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring candy and to The Dalles Lions Club for providing traffic control.
First Friday — Nov. 7
Downtown will celebrate Veterans and launch the holiday shopping season with a Shop Small campaign during November’s First Friday.
Local businesses are also encouraged to register for the annual Veterans Day Parade through the Chamber, set for Monday, Nov. 11.
Additional holiday promotions include Pink Friday on Nov. 21, Shop Small Saturday on Nov. 29, and the annual Sip & Shop on Dec. 13.
