The Dalles, Ore., July 24, 2023 - A local man came across a deceased man in the rock pit next to Highway 30 just west of The Dalles on Friday, July 21 at about 11:30 a.m.
The man was houseless, according to Wasco County Chief Deputy Scott Williams today, July 24.
The man has been identified but the cause of death remains unknown at this time, Williams said, noting he was unable to know if there was foul play involved before the medical examiner investigates further.
Williams said the woman appeared to have died about a week before being discovered.
