Brewbaker throws wildflower haymaker; It's a knockout

The Dalles, Ore., Nov. 14, 2023 - The Dalles Beautification & Tree Committee awarded the November 2023 Beautification Award to Caryl Brewbaker of 371 Summit Ridge.
When asked to describe her garden, Brewbaker wrote,
“I’ve been pulling weeds and seeding wildflowers for four years to create a low maintenance “wild zone” to replace the sticker weeds and nasty foxtails on the lot I bought next to my house. My gardener, Randy Danielle, has helped me keep up pulling the less-ideal weeds this past year too.
With fewer and fewer weeds each year, the wildflowers and worthy birdseed grasses now have the freedom to return each year with little to no competition,” she said.
“Hoorah!”
“Our last frost wilted most of the flowers about a week ago, but early spring will start the cycle all over again with colorful bachelor-buttons, poppies, and lupine. Life on this little lot will continue to amaze me yet again and again with a wide variety of flowers and birds. Such a miracle that comes from a simple seed! Life is good!”
