TD Civic Auditorium getting prepped for facelift
The Dalles Civic Auditorium will be getting quite a facelift in weeks to come as H.B. Painters, Inc. of Kennewick will paint the entire building.
But first, a lot of prep work must occur.
Antonio Vergara Cordoba and Jeff Sprague were hard at it this morning, Thursday, Oct. 14, giving the building a second power wash with hot water.
The team will also be patching cracks, scraping and getting the building ready for primer. Cordoba said the job also included applying a coat of waterproofing that will also make graffiti difficult to stick. Everything will be sprayed and backrolled, Cordoba said.
“This is going to take a bit,” said Sprague, noting they would be there about two weeks. “Older buildings need a lot of time and patience to get it right. This will be a nice job that will preserve the exterior for another 50 years.”
H.B. Painters will also be working at Kurtz Gym at The Dalles High School in days to come, applying an epoxy coat to concrete floors.
