Columbia Gorge Humane Society needs a paddling; Auction to benefit local pups

Arf, ruff, rrr- Translation: This happy couple recently adopted this little doggie at Columbia Gorge Humane Society. An auction will be held on Friday at the Bargeway Pub to raise funds for the nonprofit and its little buddies. Tickets are available at Klindts Booksellers at 315 E. 2nd St., The Dalles. Tickets are $25 cash or check, and that will get you a burger, fries and a pint. The event is for ages 21 and older.

From Columbia Gorge Humane Society:

Please join us at Bargeway Pub on Friday, May 10 at 6 p.m. for a silent auction and paddle raise to generate funds & awareness for Columbia Gorge Humane Society (formerly Home at Last).

Auctioneer Shawn Wilkinson will be our M.C. for Burgers and Bucks & Paddle for Pups.

JR Frakes

“Unfortunately, and recently Home at Last (HAL) was forced to dissolve due to lack of funding,” said incoming Board Treasurer JR Frakes. “This is an impromptu and kickoff event where we are asking our awesome community members to step up and donate to keep HAL’s legacy alive.”

CGHS (columbiagorgehs.org) has taken up the mantle to ensure our community has a place for pets while they are awaiting their forever homes.

One burger, one fries and one beer, did you hear? Bargeway, Friday.

“I felt naive to learn that HAL and now CGHS operate almost entirely from donations & grant writing efforts. Before becoming involved, I presumed the shelter was funded by State, County or City funds which is certainly not the case. Looking at the books I realize we have some work to do raising funds, educating folks on how the shelter operates, & how they can help.”

This ain’t no snoozer. Grab a pint and a paddle and get busy.

CGHS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is over 90% funded by donations. Tickets are limited & for sale at Klindt’s Booksellers, and there are other ways to support.

“If you cannot attend there are still multiple ways to help support CGHS. A big source of our current revenue is cans and bottle donations, which can be dropped off at the shelter, or you can donate/transfer funds through the Bottle Drop app. We also hope folks will consider a monthly, or annual contribution via our Happy Tails program. Best of all it is a tax-deductible donation!” (Square & PayPal are also options)

Please join if you can and either way, pass the word!

No Rut Roh, just go.
