D21 fills key positions

Ajay Rundell has been selected as the Interim Principal of Dry Hollow Elementary School for the 2020-2021 school year. Mr. Rundell was selected from a talented pool of applicants and currently serves as a science teacher at The Dalles High School, a position he has held since 2013. A graduate of TDHS, he is also an active participant in the local community and believes that “education is the key to the long term success of The Dalles as a whole.” Mr. Rundell serves as the AVID Site Coordinator for the high school and is an active member of the local Stem Hub Advisory Board. His college degrees include a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and a Masters of Art in Teaching from Portland State University. He is completing his coursework in Educational Leadership at Northwest Nazarene University. Mr. Rundell will officially start as Principal on July 1, 2020.
Kara Flath has been selected as the new Chief Financial Officer for North Wasco School District. Ms. Flath, a resident of Helena, Montana, has worked in a variety of financial and technical positions in her career with the State of Montana since 2001. She currently serves as the School Finance Division Administrator for the Montana Office of Public Instruction and formerly worked as the Budget and Program Planning Bureau Chief for the State of Montana - Department of Corrections. Ms. Flath is a graduate of Helena High School, a graduate of Montana State University, and received her Masters in Business Administration degree from Western Governors University.
Ms. Flath has been instrumental in aligning state protocols for funding with school needs in her current position. “My progressive career has brought me to the forefront of spearheading legislative change especially considering matters of budget, finance, and grants.” She will officially begin in her new position on July 1, 2020.
