How does the town of Hope Falls, West Virginia respond to finding a strange creature that is part human and part bat? The local ranchers say dozens of cows have been killed and the choice of punishment is obvious. But the intervention of one family, which happens to include the town's alcoholic veterinarian, might find a way to get Bat Boy out of the cage and into society - possibly even saved at the next tent revival meeting. Will this be a simple story of salvation or do the connections of trying to teach Bat Boy run deeper than anyone imagined? - Jim Drake

ROSIE'S GHOST
The nature of our times dictates that we believe we have more freedom than we have ever had, and yet we have become more entrenched in the cage that keeps apart from what is important, the open spaces, wide, reliable, unfailing in consistency; and instead, we cling to the incongruous and absurd, the unsuitable and ill-fitting straight jacket that locks us up securely, and we praise its ability to do so.
BEARD & BANJO
Tony Fuentes, aka Beard & Banjo, is a banjo player and singer-songwriter who has a beard. Tony was raised in North Carolina and Virginia. He began playing guitar at an early age. A decade ago, he moved to Trout Lake and realized that the town was in need of a banjo nerd. So he got a banjo, fell in love with the 5-string life, and quickly became involved in the local music scene.

His career collaborators include John Craigie, Bart Budwig, Horse Feathers, Cabinet, Fruition, TK & The Holy Know Nothings. Recently, he's been performing as a solo act and as trio, and both configurations are delighting audiences nightly.
LEWI LONGMIRE
Lewi Longmire is an inductee of the Oregon Music Hall of Fame and longtime performer out of Portland. His roster of musical collaborations includes the likes of Kassi Valazza, Michael Hurley, TK & The Holy-Know Nothings, and John Craigie. His show with his own Left Coast Roasters owe much to the American tradition of good songs played with high energy, deep roots, and an unpretentious sense of fun.

Friday, May 17, Chatham Rabbits / Beard & Banjo, North Carolinian roots couple with a unique touring history, $12 Advance // $15 Day Of Show, 6 p.m. Doors / 7 p.m. Show, All Ages
There is something warm and instantly familiar about the beloved roots duo, Chatham Rabbits. Partners in music and life, Chatham Rabbits’ Austin and Sarah McCombie blend their personal histories through deft songwriting and a history that comes from building a life together. Leaning into each other's strengths, their songs present a congenial, collaborative spirit that has captured the pure adoration of fans along the way and earned them praise from Garden & Gun Magazine, American Songwriter, and No Depression.
Saturday, May 18, Chatham County Line, Fresh interpretation of roots and bluegrass, $15 Advance // $15 Day Of Show, 6 p.m. Doors / 7 p.m. Show, All Ages
Launched a little more than twenty years ago in Raleigh, North Carolina, Chatham County Line built a devoted local following on the strength of their genre-bending live show — an intoxicating blend of bluegrass, folk, country, and rock and roll — before breaking out internationally with their 2003 self-titled debut. In the years to come, the band would go on to release eight more critically acclaimed studio albums, top the Billboard Bluegrass Chart four times, collaborate with the likes of Judy Collins, Sharon Van Etten, and Norwegian star Jonas Fjeld, earn two gold records in Norway, and share bills with everyone from Guy Clark and Lyle Lovett to Steve Martin, Martin Short and The Avett Brothers. NPR hailed the group as “a bridge between bluegrass traditions and a fresh interpretation of those influences,” while Uncut lauded their “powerful melodies and gorgeous harmonies,” and Pitchfork dubbed their music “timeless.”
Sunday, May 19, Chris Pureka / Lo Pony, Intimate Americana master from Portland, $15 Advance // $20 Day Of Show, 6 p.m. Doors / 6:30 p.m. Show, All Ages
It’s rare for an artist to bridge the divide between critical acclaim and dedicated fan engagement. Chris Pureka is a Portland-based singer-songwriter whose body of work has resonated deeply with these seemingly disparate milieus. Their music has straddled the folk, americana and indie rock genres over the course of their 20 year career, and over that time, their bold vulnerability in processing the intimacies of life in song has struck a chord with those listeners who crave authenticity and depth.
LO PONY
Lo Pony is a queer folk group based in Portland, Or. Their sound is composed of delicate harmonies discussing loss, nostalgia, and a slow appreciation for the beauty of everyday life. Lo Pony's music stems from years of steadfast friendship since meeting in college in 2008.
Friday, May 24, Willy Tea Taylor & the Fellership, One of the Hall's favorites is back with his all-star band, $20 Advance // $25 Day Of Show, 6 p.m. Doors / 7 p.m. Show, 21+
There is no question that Willy Tea Taylor’s life as a singer/songwriter was predetermined - his role realized the moment he wrote his first song. In it for the song, the hang, and the sounds he draws from his little, tenor guitar, Willy drew his inspiration from grainy videos he watched of true visionaries of his genre: Steve Earle, Rodney Crowell, Steve Young and Guy Clark, sitting around Clark’s little kitchen table loaded down with ash trays full of butts and half-smoked cigarettes, food, and booze on one Christmas Eve in 1975. Those guys, swapping songs without pretense, was what lit Willy Tea’s fire. Ever since, that’s been his passion - finding that hang and curating relationships through musical friendships that get him to his version of that night.
Sunday, May 26, Contra Dance with Sue Baker and the Beard and Banjo Revue, Free Event, Doors 4:30 p.m., Dance 5-7 p.m., All Ages
Join the Beard and Banjo Revue for an evening of contra dancing at Trout Lake Hall. You don't need to have any experience with contra dancing, square dancing, or any Americana folk dancing to join in the fun! Sue Baker will be guiding you with clear, concise teaching. Contra dance is very similar to Square dance but Contra dance is done in lines rather than in a 4-couple square. Live music for the dance will be provided by Beard and Banjo Revue! The Revue includes Linda Robinson on fiddle, Sally Peters on guitar, Stephanie O'Connor on accordion, Jason Harris on bass, and Tony Fuentes, aka Beard and Banjo, on banjo.

Led by singer, songwriter, and mandolinist, AJ Lee, the bluegrass band has performed all over the world, but finds home in California’s Bay Area. The latest full length project, I’ll Come Back, debuted August 2021 - with national touring in support of the record ongoing. Although falling loosely under the bluegrass label, AJLBS generally plays sans banjo, with Sullivan Tuttle and Scott Gates on steel stringed acoustic guitars, AJ on mandolin, Jan Purat on fiddle, and Chad Bowen on upright bass - a configuration effectively used to create unique space and texture in the arrangements not as commonly found in the music of their peers. Drawing from influences such as country, soul, swing, rock, and jam music, the band uses the lens of bluegrass as a vessel through which to express and explore the thread that binds and unifies all great music.
