Disc Days of Summer - here comes a second hot helping of summer
Kiwanis Steak Feed tonight at Sorosis at 5 p.m.; schools shift to early release as heat wave hits
The Dalles, Ore., Sept. 5, 2024 — Sue McMahon took advantage of cooler temperatures this morning at Sorosis Park as she practiced her disc golfing with her companion Wilson, a 2-year-old Golden Retriever.
McMahon a recently retired Accounting Professor from Universtiy of Colorado Boulder, said she bought a home in Hood River in the 1990s and is now extremely happy she decided to keep it.
However, she does her disc golfing in The Dalles at least once a week as she also shops at Home Depot and other stores in The Dalles.
McMahon was smart to get moving early today as temperatures are expected to hit 97 today, according to the National Weather Service. At least there will be some breeze to dry the sweat with east wind predicted at 5 to 7 mph.
The Dalles Kiwanis are welcoming cooling wind as they put on their annual steak feed tonight at Sorosis. The feed begins at 5 p.m. and tickets are $20.
The Prediction for Friday, Sept. 6 is 101 degrees.
