The Dalles Ore., January 2, 2024 — Join Underwood Conservation District and partners and learn something new at the 5th annual Winter The Workshop Series continues. The December Winter Workshop was a success and covered wildfire resilience in the central Columbia Gorge. UCD has two remaining educational workshops taking place on the second Thursday of the month in January and February.
Their next Winter Workshop is on Thursday, January 11th at 6 p.m. Join UCD, the Washington Water Trust, and the State Conservation Commission for a water rights information session that will walk through the basics of water law and water rights and help identify key features of water rights. Speakers include Tessa Reeder and Ethan Lockwood from Washington Water Trust and Jon Culp from the Washington State Conservation Committee Irrigation Efficiencies Grant Program. They will present different programs and resources available to help upgrade irrigation systems, and protect, and conserve water, including water transactions using the Trust Water Rights Program. Time will be available at the end to help participants look up specific water rights/claim information.
The event starts at 6:00 pm and will be held in person at the School Board Meeting Room, Park Center Building, at 170 NW Washington St, in downtown White Salmon, WA 98672, as well as streamed virtually via Zoom. Register for either the in-person or virtual event by visiting https://www.ucdwa.org/winter- workshop-series. UCD Winter Workshop events are free of charge and open to all. Refreshments and snacks will be available at each event.
In February, the interested public can learn The Why, What, and How of Native Plant Landscaping, on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at 6:00 pm. UCD’s annual Native Plant Sale also starts online on January 2, 2024.
