The Dalles, Ore., June 22, 2026 — A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 197 and Columbia View Drive on Friday afternoon sent two vehicles into a guardrail and utility pole, but no serious injuries were reported.

According to the Oregon State Police, the crash occurred at approximately 1:47 p.m. June 19 when the driver of a gray Toyota Prius failed to yield at a stop sign while attempting to cross Highway 197. The Prius entered the path of a northbound gray Toyota RAV4 traveling on the highway.

The vehicles collided and subsequently struck a guardrail and a telephone pole before coming to rest partially down an embankment.

Occupants of both vehicles suffered minor cuts and scrapes but were otherwise uninjured. Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue evaluated those involved and cleared them of any major injuries. Family members transported the occupants from the scene.

The driver of the Prius, a 45-year-old The Dalles man, was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device, according to OSP.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene by Rivers Edge Towing.

The Dalles Police Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted with traffic control during the response. No additional injuries were reported.
