The Dalles, Ore., June 21, 2026 — Summer is in full swing at The Dalles Public Library, with free concerts, crafts, games, storytimes, teen activities and family programs scheduled throughout the week.

Tween Librarian Team Applications
All day, June 21-27, The Dalles Public Library.
Kids ages 7 to 11 can apply to join the July Tween Librarian Team. Participants will adopt and decorate a shelf, share favorite books and movies, play book-themed games and learn how to find materials in the library. Applications close June 27. A Tween Librarian party and shelf adoption event is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. July 11. Registration is required.

Virtual Author Talk: Sana Javeri Kadri and Asha Loupy
11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 23.
Adults are invited to a virtual conversation with Sana Javeri Kadri and Asha Loupy about “The Diaspora Spice Co. Cookbook,” which features seasonal recipes inspired by India and Sri Lanka’s family spice farms. Registration is required for the virtual event.

Little Learners Lab: Kids in STEAM
11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, Children’s Wing.
Toddlers and preschoolers can build, experiment and explore hands-on STEAM activities in a play-based program. Children must attend with an accompanying adult.

Library of Rock
1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, Children’s Wing.
Kids ages 8 to 12 can learn the basics of playing in a rock band with instructor Bryon Burke, also known as Zombie, a former monitor engineer at the Roseland Theater. The June 24 lesson focuses on drums and choosing a band name. Registration is required and includes future sessions in the series.

Minecraft Club
3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, Teen Room.
Teens ages 11 to 17 can play Minecraft together on the library’s iPads and server. Participants will complete challenges and share their mining and crafting skills. Registration is required because iPads are limited.

Mat Pilates with Shannon Red Cloud
9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, June 25, Meeting Room.
Adults can take part in a mat Pilates class focused on strength, flexibility and balance through controlled movement. Exercises can be modified for a variety of fitness levels. Participants should be able to move comfortably from standing to the floor.

Playdough Storytime
10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Thursday, June 25, Children’s Wing.
Toddlers can explore early literacy through reading, writing, talking, singing and play with hands-on playdough activities. Children must attend with an accompanying adult. Materials are limited.

Family Lego Pizza Night
5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, Meeting Room.
Families are invited to build with Legos and enjoy pizza during the library’s monthly Family Lego Pizza Night.

Friday Concerts in June at Noon
Noon to 1 p.m. Friday, June 26, The Dalles Public Library deck.
The library’s free outdoor concert series continues under the sycamore tree with live music, light snacks and a short educational element. The 2026 series highlights global sounds and is supported by the Wasco County Cultural Trust.

Bleach Paint T-Shirts
2 to 4 p.m. Friday, June 26, The Dalles Public Library patio.
Teens ages 11 and older can create designs on black T-shirts or tank tops using bleach, stencils and original designs. The program will be held outside. Gloves will be provided and are required.

Fun Friday: Water Balloon Fight and Popsicles
3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 26, Children’s Wing.
Elementary-age children can cool off with a water balloon fight and popsicles as part of the library’s weekly Fun Friday program.

Rock Collection: Take & Make Kit
All day Saturday, June 27, The Dalles Public Library.
Visitors can pick up a rock sample with a mini fact sheet to add to their collection. Materials are limited and available while supplies last.

Chess Club
Noon to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27, Meeting Room.
The library’s Chess Club meets on the second and fourth Saturdays. Vanessa Bartsma will guide players through fundamentals, strategies and practice games. The club is open to ages 8 to 108.

“Romeo and Juliet” Reader’s Theater Performance
1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 27, Meeting Room.
Community members will perform a reader’s theater adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” The performance is open to school-age children, teens and adults.

Family Board Game Afternoons
2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 27, The Dalles Public Library.
Families can play a variety of board games, from classics to newer favorites, during the library’s second and fourth Saturday game afternoons. Light snacks will be provided.
