Fire Weather Watch Issued for Lower Columbia Basin
The Dalles, Ore, June 21, 2024 – The National Weather Service (NOAA) has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the Lower Columbia Basin on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“A dry and strong cold front on Sunday will produce gusty winds and low relative humidity through the Lower Columbia Basin. These conditions could lead to critical fire situations for new and existing fires, and could lead to extreme fire behavior,” said the National Weather Service.
Impacted areas include in Washington include: Dallesport, Lyle, White Salmon, Goldendale, Wenatchee, Sunnyside, Moses Lake, Connell, Pasco and Walla Walla.
Impacted areas in Oregon include: The Dalles, Maupin, Condon, Fossil, Hermiston, and Pendleton.
The public is advised to exercise caution when working with flammable materials or operating equipment.
