The Dalles, Ore., June 17, 2025 — The City of The Dalles has declared a state of emergency under Ordinance No. 25-1412 following Wasco County’s order banning fireworks due to fire-related safety concerns. As a result, the use of all fireworks is now prohibited within City limits.

This prohibition includes lighting, igniting, or setting off any fireworks. The sale and possession of fireworks are not restricted under this order.

The ban does not apply to commercial fireworks displays that are approved by local or state government, including the State Fire Marshal.

City of The Dalles

The City of The Dalles, Oregon, is situated in the north-central part of the state on the Columbia River, the nation's second largest river. It is the county seat and the largest community in Wasco County. The Dalles is one of Oregon's most historical cities and was known earlier in its history as the town at the end of the Oregon Trail. The city was first incorporated by the Oregon Territorial Government in 1857 as “Dalles City” and was made the county seat shortly thereafter.
