Lyle, WA., December 1, 2023 – Winter has officially arrived in the Columbia River Gorge! Yesterday, November 30th, marked the first widespread snowfall of the season, with between 2”-6” of snow being reported gorge-wide.

Yesterday and today’s snowfall is a result of the Pineapple Express, an atmospheric river as it makes its way to the Pacific Ocean across the Cascades.

Weather Outlook: The forecast predicts a mix of rain and snow for Friday, with little to no snow accumulation, (According to the charts, anyway. But looking out my window in Lyle I can see the snow piling on.)

Here’s our chart showing the highs and lows in the gorge for the next seven days.

Highs are projected to reach the lower to mid-40s, today Friday, Dec 1.

The weekend is projected to bring rain, with high chances of precipitation and breezy conditions.

Stay Prepared: As we transition into colder weather, it's essential to be prepared for slippery roads and changing conditions, especially when driving. Remember to keep warm and stay safe!
