Winter has officially arrived in the Columbia River Gorge! Yesterday, November 30th, marked the first wide spread snowfall of the season, with between 2”-6” of snow being reported gorge wide.
Chunks of ice and snow could be seen floating out into the Columbia River from the mouth of the Klickitat River this morning.
The National Weather service has issued a winter storm warning for the central and western Columbia River Gorge from 7:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on December 8th. The storm warning does not extend into the Eastern Gorge, as only a half inch of snow is forecasted to fall in The Dalles, OR today.
Wasco County Commissioners declared a local state of emergency due to drought and approved a fireworks and burn ban. The ban will being on June 15th at 12:01 a.m. The ban on burns and fireworks remains in effect until fire authorities deem it safe to lift the ban.

Large fallen rocks and a semi-truck collided on Washington SR-14 occurred on Wednesday morning around 4 a.m on January 5th, 2022. The collision occurred just between Rowena Tunnel 2 and the Lyle Cherry Orchard trailhead.

An air stagnation warning is in effect in Oregon, Upper Hood River Valley and Central Columbia River Gorge until 7:00 PM today. Effected areas include the cities of Odell, Hood River, Carson, and Underwood.
While an inversion has The Dalles under some thick gray this morning, Sol made a spectacular showing on Friday afternoon. Winter weather is coming to the PNW this Friday the 13th. The storm is predicted to bring high winds, heavy rains, and snow to Oregon and Washington.
It’s likely to be a hazy day. Smoke from Californian and Washington wildfires will be rolling over western Oregon and Washington Friday, and possibly into Saturday. And areas local to the White River Creek Fire will continue to be impacted.
