Furry Love: Everybody Wins in Pet Photo Contest

Furry Love: Everybody Wins in Pet Photo Contest

Columbia Basin Care has announced the winners of it’s Pet Photo Contest!

Created with the purpose to “engage and delight” residents of Columbia Basin Care, the contest was open to anyone who lives in The Dalles, Oregon, or with ties to Columbia Basin Care.

The contest received over 60 photo entries from the community. Photo contestants included 39 dogs, 14 cats, 2 deer, 1 chicken, a rooster, a bull, a tarantula, and a pig. Photos were sorted, compiled and put into Pet Photo Catalogues for each resident to view and keep.

“The idea was to bring immediate joy with the contest, as well as enjoyment in later days as they flip through the pages,” said Drew Myron, Columbia Basin Care’s Marketing Director.

Residents then voted for their favorites in each category. (Cat, Dog, and Other) Winners were awarded prize bags filled with gift cards and other surprises.

“It was a really fun project and we were delighted with the community response -- and wonderfully surprised with the range of pets. People love their pets and the images were adorable! And the notes that accompanied the photos warmed our hearts too; people really wanted to bring smiles and cheer to our residents.”

“This has been a tough stretch for everyone,” continued Myron “The restrictions and changes to routines have been a challenge, but the outpouring from the community helped to lighten our mood and lift our spirits. We're so thankful for the love and support of our senior citizens.”

The contest it would seem, has accomplished its mission, to get the community engaged and bring joy to Columbia Basin Care residents during a difficult time. So while only a few may have been selected to receive prizes as winners of this contest- the joy that comes from sharing a love of animals has made everyone a winner.
