Get Ready to Rev Your Engines at Cruise the Gorge 2024

The Dalles, Ore., Aug. 8, 2024 — The much-anticipated Cruise the Gorge event returns from August 9-11, 2024, bringing a thrilling weekend for car enthusiasts and spectators alike.

The festivities kick off on Friday, Aug. 9, with the vibrant “Neon Cruise” through downtown The Dalles. Starting at 7 p.m., this nostalgic event invites participants to showcase their vehicles in an open cruise, reminiscent of days gone by. 

Spectators can enjoy the colorful display along Second and Third streets, where local businesses will also host special events. 

Show in the Shade

Early registration for Saturday’s Show in the Shade car show is available at Burgerville on 3rd Street from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday. Participants can pick up goodie bags, T-shirts, hats, and raffle tickets.

The first 250 vehicles to register will receive exclusive goodie bags and dash plaques. For a $20 entry fee, participants have a chance to win one of over 40 awards. 

On Saturday, Aug. 10, the “Show in the Shade” at Sorosis Park, located at 300 E. Scenic Dr., promises a day of excitement and a chance to get an up-close look at these classic cars.  Registration begins on Saturday at 10 a.m., with judging from noon to 2 p.m. The Parade of Champions awards ceremony starts at 3 p.m. 

The event also features food vendors, specialty stalls, oldies music, and a variety of raffle prizes, ensuring a memorable day for all.

Eagles/Elks Cruise Nite 

Saturday evening extends the fun with the Eagles/Elks Cruise Nite from 5 to 7 p.m. at the lodge located at 2006 W. 7th St., The Dalles.

Dufur Threshing Bee and Car Show

The weekend concludes with the Dufur Threshing Bee and Car Show on Sunday, Aug. 11, at Dufur City Park. Registration runs from 7 to 9 a.m., and the show continues until 2:30 p.m., culminating in the awards ceremony.

Whether you attend one day or the entire weekend, Cruise the Gorge 2024 promises an exhilarating experience filled with classic cars, lively entertainment, and community spirit.
