Last week NW band ‘Hot Damn Scandal’ brought an eclectic mix of material to the stage at Double Mountain. Sax, stand up bass, resonator guitar and ‘musical saw’ filled the room with Tom Waits/Leonard Cohen type vibes. The band promised a new album dropping in a couple of months. - Jim Drake

RYLEY WALKER

Ryley Walker currently resides in New York City. But his latest LP is a Chicago record in spirit. The masterful Course In Fable, the songwriter’s fifth solo effort, draws from the deep well of that city’s fertile 1990s scene, when bands like Tortoise, The Sea and Cake and Gastr del Sol were reshaping the underground, mixing and matching indie rock, jazz, prog and beyond.

LES AILES

Les Ailes is the indie music project of PNW-based singer/songwriter Rylie DeGarmo, synthesizing her early jazz melodic influences with a folk honesty derived from formative years spent writing songs in the american South. After a musical upbringing in Seattle, DeGarmo spent much of her twenties sojourning across the southern united states developing her own writing style characterized by textural rhythm guitar in unique tunings and a clear, distinctive voice that pulls at the heart strings, waxing nostalgic.
