The Dalles, Ore., Aug. 27, 2025 — A Wasco County grand jury has indicted Richard Michael Robinson on a felony charge of second-degree abuse of a corpse in connection with the discovery last month of He “Kiki” Meihong’s remains in a U-Haul storage unit in The Dalles.
Under Oregon law, abuse of a corpse is defined as intentionally mistreating or unlawfully removing human remains. The offense is classified as a Class C felony, which typically carries probation under state sentencing guidelines.

The Dalles Police confirmed Monday that the remains were identified as He, 39. She was a resident of the Mid-Columbia area and originally from China. Her next of kin have been informed of her death. She disappeared in May 2024 after her fiancee dropped her off in Glenwood, Wash. for a fishing trip, according to information put out by Klickitat County.
Her remains were found July 29 inside a container in a U-Haul storage unit on West Sixth Street in The Dalles after a buyer who had purchased the abandoned locker called police to report a suspicious box.
On Wednesday, Aug. 27, the Wasco County DA’s office also announced that Robinson was indicted on two enhancement factors that could allow the Wasco County District Attorney’s Office to pursue a prison sentence of up to 24 months if he is convicted.
“This indictment reflects the seriousness of the allegations and our office’s intent to seek justice for the victim,” the Wasco County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
Robinson is being held at the Larimer County Jail in Fort Collins, Colo., on $500,000 bail while awaiting extradition to Oregon. His next court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 4.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the case and urged anyone with information about Meihong or Robinson to contact The Dalles Police Department at 541-296-2613 or 541-296-2233.
