Halloween Event Guide: Nights of Frights in the Columbia Gorge 2024

The Dalles, Ore. Oct. 18, 2024 — Halloween is just around the corner, and the Columbia River Gorge is offering a variety of events to suit every level of thrill-seeker. From ghost walks to family-friendly festivals and adult costume parties, there's something for everyone. Here's a look at what's happening in the area this spooky season:

October 19

Spooky Season Paint & Sip: Food for All Fundraiser

Time: 5:30 p.m.
Location: AniChe Cellars, 71 Little Buck Creek Rd., Underwood, WA
Support a good cause while creating Halloween-themed artwork at AniChe Cellars in Underwood, Wash. This paint-and-sip fundraiser offers wine, painting, and a spooky atmosphere starting at 5:30 p.m.

The Witches Walk


Location: Downtown The Dalles
Downtown The Dalles transforms into a magical scene as a community of “witches” take a festive stroll, complete with costumes, brews, and light-hearted fun. Ideal for adults looking to embrace the Halloween spirit. Remember, Witches, our parade is tomorrow! Gather on the sidewalks by Route 30 - 317 E. 2nd - and be ready by 4 p.m.

Klickitat County Harvest Festival

Time: 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Location: 205 S. Columbus Ave. Goldendale WA

This event promises a day of fun and entertainment for all ages. Attendees can look forward to experiencing activities such as hayrides, a hay maze, touch a truck, face painting, a petting zoo, a parade, a trunk or treat, a scavenger hunt, an escape room, a haunted house, and more.

Dance of the Living Dead Halloween Party

Time: 8:00 p.m.
Location: Hood River Elks Lodge, Hood River, OR
Head to the Hood River Elks Lodge for a night of dancing, live music, and a costume contest at 8:00 p.m. Come dressed to impress for a chance to win prizes.

The Rocky Horror Show

Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: Bingen Theater, 210 Oak St., Bingen, WA
Catch a live performance of "The Rocky Horror Show," a Halloween tradition. Audience members are invited to dress up and participate in the show for an interactive theater experience. Tickets range from $23 to $25.

Harvest Craft Show
Location: Stevenson, WA
A craft show featuring local artisans selling seasonal crafts, perfect for fall-inspired gifts and decorations. The event offers a family-friendly fall atmosphere.

October 25

Grossology STEM Night

4:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Location: Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, 5000 Discovery Drive, The Dalles
For a mix of science and Halloween fun, visit the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This free, family-friendly event lets kids get hands-on with creepy, slimy STEM activities

October 26

Migrant Education Program Halloween Fest
Location: Mid Valley Elementary School, Odell, OR
Bring the little ones to Mid Valley Elementary School in Odell, Ore., for a safe and welcoming festival full of Halloween activities and treats for toddlers and preschoolers.

Parkdale Pumpkin Parade

Time: 11:00 a.m.

Location: Along the Baseline from Allen Rd. to Clear Creek

Parade entry is free, creative floats have a chance to win prizes! Float line up is 11 am in the county lot on Allen Rd & Baseline. The parade route is along the Baseline from Allen Rd. to Clear Creek.
Parade spectators, please keep a close eye on children and make sure the keep a safe distance from floats & have fun! Costumes encouraged!

October 27

Spooky Movie Night
Location: Sorosis Park, The Dalles
Pack a blanket and enjoy a spooky movie under the stars at Sorosis Park in The Dalles. The event, hosted by Northern Wasco County Parks & Recreation, is perfect for families seeking outdoor Halloween fun.

Civic Haunted House

Dates: October 19, 20, 25, 27, 29 and 30
Location: The Dalles Civic Auditorium, 323 E 4th St.
The Dalles Civic Auditorium presents a Haunted House for all ages, starting on Saturday, Oct. 19, starting at 5 p.m. The Haunted House tours will feature “Less Fright” from 5-7 p.m., and “More Scare” from 7-9 p.m. $5 entry fee (cash or card at the door). Haunted House entry will be from the alleyway - follow the signs. Haunted House continues on Oct. 20, 25, 27, 29 and 30.

October 28

Haunt the Heights Block Party

Time: 12:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Location: Working Hands Fermentation, Hood River
Details: A family-friendly event with live music, seasonal beers, artisan vendors, and fun activities like a beer belly run and costume contests. Perfect for enjoying the local food and drink scene.

The Graveyard Book Community Read

Time 7:30 p.m.
Location: The Dalles Wasco County Library
Details: Part of a month-long series of events centered on Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book. This day features ghost tours and book discussions suitable for all ages.

October 29

Hallo-wine Party
Location: The Pines, Hood River
Details: An evening of live music, wine specials, and prizes for costumes. This Halloween celebration adds a fun twist with a wine focus, ideal for adults.

October 30

Trunk or Treat, 5 = 7 p.m.
Location: Columbia Gorge Toyota, The Dalles
Details: Families can enjoy trick-or-treating from decorated car trunks. This event offers a safe, community-centered way to celebrate Halloween.

Halloween Harvest Fest
Location: The Dalles Civic Auditorium
Details: A daytime event with local arts and crafts vendors, food, and seasonal decorations. A wonderful opportunity to support local artists and get into the Halloween spirit.

Moose Lodge Adult Halloween Costume Party
Location: Moose Lodge, The Dalles
Details: A lively adults-only celebration with a live DJ, dancing, and costume prizes. Perfect for those wanting a Halloween night out.

October 31

Downtown The Dalles TRICK-or-TREAT

Time: 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Location: Downtown The Dalles
Details: Families are invited to dress up and march downtown, where local businesses will hand out treats. The event includes a costume contest, providing a fun and safe experience for kids.

Duskmourn House of Horror Draft Night
Location: Brick City & Games, 318 E. 2nd St., The Dalles

Time: 8:00 p.m.
Horror fans can enjoy a themed game night with a House of Horror draft tournament. This event is perfect for celebrating Halloween with a gaming twist.

Balch Hotel Family Fun Halloween Haunted Hotel

Time: 4:30-8 p.m

Location: 40 Heimrich St, Dufur, OR 97021

The Balch Hotel in Dufur presents a Family Fun Halloween Walkthrough of a Haunted Hotel, on Thursday, Oct. 31, 4:30-8 p.m. “This Halloween, encounter ghostly corridors, quirky characters, and eerie surprises! Our second floor promises spooky fun for little ones, offering thrills without too many chills, while the third floor dials up the creepy factor.

Die Hallow 2024

Time: 5:00 p.m.
