Hood River Man Accused of Ramming Vehicles on I-84, Arrested for DUII

The Dalles, Ore., July 17, 2026 — An allegedly impaired Hood River man was arrested Thursday after Oregon State Police say he rammed multiple vehicles while driving eastbound on Interstate 84 from Mosier before being stopped in The Dalles.
According to an Oregon State Police report, dispatchers received multiple calls at about 5:34 p.m. reporting that a white Subaru Legacy was being driven recklessly and intentionally striking other vehicles on Interstate 84 eastbound near Milepost 73.
Troopers located the Subaru on West Sixth Street in The Dalles and conducted a traffic stop. Police said the driver displayed multiple signs of impairment and allegedly admitted to ramming other vehicles.
The driver, identified as, was arrested and lodged at the Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility.
He was booked on allegations of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, resisting arrest, seven counts of reckless endangering another person and four counts of failing to perform the duties of a driver involved in a crash causing property damage.
Salamanca remained at the Northern Oregon Regional Corrections facility in The Dalles this afternoon, according to jail records.
Police allege he drove under the influence of intoxicants involving a controlled substance, reckless driving, seven counts of recklessly endangering another person, four counts of hit and run, probation violation, four counts of violating a release agreement, second-degree criminal mischief and second-degree disorderly conduct.
Salamanca's bail amount was listed at $12,000, with a $1,200 security release required for release.
State police said the Subaru was impounded under Oregon's DUII vehicle impound law. Troopers also obtained a search warrant for Salamanca Marquez's blood, which was served without incident.
According to the report, at least three vehicles sustained damage during the incident, including a Toyota Corolla, a Chevrolet Colorado and a Nissan Altima.
Police identified seven people as victims, including four adults and two young children from The Dalles. No injuries were listed in the report.
The investigation remains ongoing. Under Oregon law, all criminal charges are allegations unless and until proven in court.
