Hood River, White Salmon Lose Natural Gas Service after wreck
Some 5,000 NW Natural Gas customers in White Salmon and Hood River have lost service, and will not likely see it restored until Tuesday and Wednesday this week, according to company officials.
Weather forecasters are calling for a low of about 40 degrees in Hood River overnight. Tuesday night temperatures are expected to drop below freezing.
The outage began when a car crashed into the natural gas regulator station in Hood River just before midnight on Sunday, Dec. 20. The regulator is owned by Williams NW Pipeline Company, which provides gas to NW Natural. The line has been shut down due to the accident.
NW Natural technicians will be going door to door to affected customers.
Customers should not try to relight their equipment but should wait to be contacted by Northwest Natural.
