Hundreds of Children take parents to Fair in The Dalles

The Dalles, Ore., May 18, 2024 — The Children’s Fair brought out hundreds this morning at The Dalles City Park, 707 Union Street as some 15 booths were set up with activities for children.

It featured face painting, sidewalk chalk, carnival games and lots of interactive play.

It was also a great opportunity to present safety materials about lead and other issues to help give kids the best chance at success.

The fair is running until 2 p.m. this afternoon.

Two-year-old Kolotea Laulualo of The Dalles was transfixed with the scoops and beads in this blue bin out front of the Play & Learn booth on Saturday, May 18. Play & Learn provides Free Activity Boxes and Child-Directed Playgroups available to all children 0-5’s and their grown-ups in Wasco, Hood River, Sherman, Gilliam & Wheeler Counties of Oregon. Lucas Nelson, 7, of Hood River gets strapped in and tipped a bit by Katie Woodruff as she demonstrates the proper way to install and buckle a child into a car seat. Woodruff is with Safe Kids Columbia Gorge, which focuses in on car seats, helmets and water safety.
