Shannon's Trivia Winner: We got a Del Rio hero!

The answers came faster than a soft shell taco salad bowl through a deep fryer, and locals had it right 90 percent of the time as this photo of a TD ‘90s icon above brought a lot of smiles.
Back in the day, Leonard Cooper ran this restaurant above and eventually added “The Cantina” a place where musicians could perfect their licks and patrons could lick some salt and bite a lime with a little biddle, tequila in the middle.
This week we had 12 correct answers that were emailed, and we threw their names in the frijoles and drew a lucky number 7 on a perfect tortilla chip.
Reader Elizabeth Polehn is this week’s winner, coming up with the right answer, Casa Del Rio.
The restaurant was in the Cascade Square parking lot on West Sixth Street at about the site of Rivermark Credit Union.
“Leonard’s restaurant was where we won a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico when he ran a contest,” Kim Birge wrote. “We won by default. You needed to be present to win. The first name drawn had left! Lucky us! Now, we’ve been back 5 times. Love it.”
“That is Casa del Rio,” Lana Tepfer said. “A great place in town. There was another restaurant there first, but Leonard did add the cantina. I'm thinking the other place was Fancy Dan's, but I am not sure. I was new here then.”
The 12 who got the question right were Polehn, Tepfer, Birge, Jim Wilcox, Robert Thouvenel, Denise Ellis, Randy and Susan Stewart, Randall Carter, Nikki Culver, Jason Harrah, Mike Kilkenny and Brad McManigal.
We also received a ton of correct answers via Meta. Thanks for those. To be entered into the contest - answers must be emailed to tom@cccnews.com. Don’t make me be the parent in the room. So feel free to play it the way you want - like hacky sack. I always try to snap that bag with the front of my shoe.
Look for Shannon’s next trivia contest on Friday!
