HAMMER TIME
Jeremy DePriest, 43, with the Oregon Department of Transportation hammers some anchor bolts home as a crew replaced fencing along I-84 next to Riverfront Trail just east of the Union Street underpass this morning, Monday, April 26. The barrier provides protection from passing cars. Hundreds of posts had to be removed, repaired, and reinstalled as part of general maintenance on the highway that dates back to the 1960s. Makes you wonder how many two-foot fence posts there are on US highways. And what does it take to keep them up to snuff? It might be a good time to buy stock in Nucor Steel. Do you think Nucor will be melting a lot of combustion engine cars in the future as Electric Vehicles come onboard? Sorry to digress. I didn’t realize a hammer could be so striking.
