LIHEAP Opening: MCCAC Ready to Keep Homes Warm for Mid-Columbia Residents

The Dalles, OR. November 15, 2023 - Mid-Columbia Community Action Council (MCCAC) is pleased to announce that we are now scheduling appointments for all household types for the December 1, 2023 opening date of our Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). With winter approaching, there will be an increased need for our most vulnerable community members to keep their homes warm and safe throughout the season. MCCAC's utility assistance programs help qualified individuals and families stay current on their utility bills while allowing them to keep the lights on and heat running throughout the year.

"One of MCCAC's top priorities is to ensure that our community members are able to stay healthy and warm during the harsh winter months we experience in the Mid-Columbia region MCCAC Executive Director, Kenny LaPoint said.

MCCAC's Household Utility Assistance team will be scheduling appointments for assistance at their main offices in The Dalles and Hood River. Additionally, MCCAC will be scheduling outreach appointments in the cities of Moro, Maupin and Cascade Locks In order to apply, you can contact us at 541-298-5131, ext. 206 (The Dalles) or ext. 310 (Hood River) If your call is not answered, please leave a message and allow two business days for a return call. Also, Beginning December 1st, you may complete an application online at www.mccac.com/utility-assistance-and-weatherization. Applications are available in both English and Spanish, and bilingual staff are available for appointments at either main office location.

Income Eligibility Guidelines:

Household of one- Monthly gross income below $2,785.58

Household of two- Monthly gross income below $3,642.67

Household of three-monthly gross income below $4.499.75

Household of four-Monthly gross income below $5,356.83

If you are unsure whether you qualify for household sizes greater than 4 persons, please call our office or email us at energy@mccac.com so our staff can help determine program eligibility
