Arrest made in connection with January robbery and beating
Law enforcement has taken a suspect into custody in relation to the robbery and beating of Donald Lewis on January 22 at approximately 7 PM at 3021 West 7th Street The Dalles, according to a press release from The Dalles Police Department.
Marshall Allen McFarlane, 42, was detained in Portland at 4:30 p.m. on Friday in connection with the crime, the release states.
On Jan. 22, Lewis informed officers that individuals armed with a gun forcibly entered his residence. A struggle ensued and Lewis was forcibly restrained and severely assaulted. Several items were stolen from his home, according to a police report.
Lewis sustained significant injuries and was treated at Mid-Columbia Medical Center before being transported to OHSU.
Friday’s arrest was preceded by a grand jury indictment of Mcfarlane, which charged him with kidnapping, robbery, first-degree assault, first-degree burglary, third-degree assault, first-degree theft, unlawful use of a weapon and menacing, according to the release.
Mcfarlane is being jailed in Clackamas County and is awaiting transport to the regional jail in The Dalles.
Mcfarlane’s arrest is part of an on-going criminal investigation.
Sheriff’s offices in Sherman, Klickitat, Wasco, Hood River and Clackamas counties assisted the Dalles Police Department in this case. The Oregon State Police and Its Crime Lab and the Wasco County District Attorney’s Office have also contributed to the investigation.
