A jury convicted Jason McCollum on all counts in a brutal 2021 home invasion, ending a five-year case that left the victim severely injured and relieved to see justice delivered.

A jury heard graphic and disputed testimony as prosecutors and defense attorneys clash over brutal 2021 home invasion in The Dalles. Trial of Jason McCollum continues on Thursday.

Prosecutors are pushing for the conviction of a Portland-area man accused in the brutal 2021 home-invasion assault and robbery, while defense attorney says the state’s case hinges on the word of a cooperating accomplice seeking leniency.

A customer, who was there with family having a late dinner, said she observed a man come into the restaurant at about 2:40 a.m., and he brandished a knife and demanded money from the Denny’s employee behind the register. 

Art Mendoza, Owner of La Michocana Store, stopped a robbery at his store in The Dalles last month and has already had his day in court with the robber. The would-be thief was sentenced to 18 months behind bars last week.

On February 9, 2022, Dakota Glenn and another person violently confronted a victim at gunpoint in The Dalles. They ransacked his home, stealing some of the few possessions he had. They took him from his home by threatening him with a gun and forced the victim to accompany them across town.

Law enforcement has taken a suspect into custody in relation to the robbery and beating of Donald Lewis on January 22 at 3021 West 7th Street The Dalles, according to a press release from The Dalles Police Department.
