May's Hottest Local Library Events
These local libraries really go the extra mile to offer free events and activities to our communities.

Here are some of the hottest local library events happening this month!
At The Dalles-Wasco County Public Library
Raising Antiracist Children
(Adults) At the top of the list for woke parents is a virtual author talk by Britt Hawthrone. On May 3rd, 2023 at 10 a.m. Hawthorne will speak to the subject of her book Raising Antiracist Children, a Practical Parenting Guide. Register here.
Star Wars Day
(All Ages) Join TDWCL on May 4th, 2023 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. for Star Wars themed snacks, fun crafts and activities and fun goodies to celebrate all things space. There will also be a chance to enter a raffle to win a Star Wars lego set!
A Star Wars Paint Night event for adults will take place at 6 p.m. and participants will get to paint a fun scene of Cloud City in a galactic sky.
All materials will be provided.
Mother's Day Gift Workshop
(All Ages) On May 6th, 2023 from 1 to 3 p.m. make a laser cut keychain, wood earrings, or customize a coffee mug for the mom in your life.
Stuffed Animal Sleepover & Breakfast
(Ages 4-10) A sleepover party at the library for stuffed animals! Drop your stuffed animal off at the library on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. and come by Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. to pick them up! Enjoy breakfast (cereal, fruit cup or yogurt, juice, milk), and find out what fun things your stuffie did at our slumber party.

At Goldendale Community Library
She Persisted: Women Artists Through Time
Join Louise Palermo on May 11th, 2023 from 6-7 p.m. at Goldendale Community Library as she re-introduces the major artists that impacted their generations and whom time forgot.
Tacos & Telescopes
Join the Goldendale Community Library, Friends of Gorge Area Parks (FOGAP) and Steve Stout, on May 16th, 2023 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. to learn about the history of telescopes and review soon to be circulating telescope backpacks! Enjoy tacos plus an opportunity to view the evening sky and crescent moon!
At Hood River County Library
Feast of Words
(Adults) On May 6th, 2023 at 6 p.m.tThe HRCL will host a fundraising event to “Make library services accessible to all by reducing barriers to access.”
Enjoy live music, great local food, wine and beer and donate through the live auction, raffle and wine wall and help them reach thier goal to raise $35,000 at the Feast. Auction items include escape room experiences, a half day rafting trip, cooking classes, 6 months worth of beer, local art, a mushroom hunting adventure and more!
Hood River Library Comic Con
(All Ages) On Saturday, May 13th, 2023 from 2 to 6 p.m. Hood River Library will host their first ever Comic Con! Enjoy games, shows, zine making , button making, free comics, a costume contest and more.
At White Salmon Valley Community Library
Storytime in the Park
(Families) Listen to stories, be entertained by puppets, bubbles, activities and more at Rheingarten Park on May 3, 10, 17, and 24th from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
“A Murderous Melodrama”
(Teens) Enjoy an interactive murder mystery night with friends on May 26th, 2023 from 7 to 9 p.m. ! Gather your teams of detectives to investigate the crime scenes and listen to suspect statements. Bring your thinking caps and puzzle it out. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team!
At Stevenson Community Library
Red Cross Blood Drive
(Adults) Blood donations can help save people's lives. Please consider donating blood today for the Red Cross blood drive on May 5th, 2023 from 12-5 p.m. at The Stevenson Community Library.

Meditation Building Blocks: Finding Happiness
Join Melissa Mattern on May 8th, 2023 to learn a meditation technique, discuss the history and benefits of this technique, and of course…practice! All experience levels are welcome.
