Mirror, Mirror in the fall; freezing temps expected overnight on Tuesday

Abject peace was found as photographer Tama Bolton snapped this piece of paradise along Riverfront Trail in The Dalles last week. The red leaves of the Tree of Heaven beckoned the Columbia’s placid appearance as ancient lava flows were infiltrated with green life and the ever-present, short-lived cheatgrass — all to be doubled over in the floating beauty of water, the very essence of our existence.

The Dalles, Ore., Nov. 17, 2025 — A stretch of cool, unsettled weather is settling over The Dalles and the Mid-Columbia Gorge this week.

Light rain chances linger today, mainly before late afternoon, before skies turn partly sunny with highs in the low 50s. Tonight stays partly cloudy with only a slight chance of early showers and lows dipping into the low 30s.

Tuesday brings mostly sunny skies but cooler temperatures, topping out in the upper 40s before dropping into the upper 20s overnight, when patchy fog may develop toward dawn.

The middle and end of the week sees a mix of fog, sun, and periodic showers. Wednesday starts with morning fog before clearing to mostly sunny conditions and highs in the mid-40s.

Rain chances return Wednesday night and continue on and off through the weekend, with daytime highs largely in the mid-40s to low 50s and overnight lows hovering around the freezing mark.

Expect mostly cloudy skies from Thursday through Sunday with several windows of light rain possible, though no significant storm systems are forecast at this time.
