Mid-Columbia Community Concert Association is pleased to present Jarabe Mexicano, Thursday, Oct. 6, at The Dalles Civic Auditorium. “In celebration of Mexican Appreciation Month, we invite you on a joyride through a versatile songbook of Mexican Folk as well as Rock & Roll, Tex-Mex, Latin Rock, and Reggae-Cumbia. Doors open at 6 p.m., performance starts at 7 p.m.

Drunken Prayer at The Ruins Oct. 14

The Ruins in Hood River presents Americana artist Drunken Prayer on Friday, Oct. 14. Music starts at 6 p.m. Chris Couch (from World's Finest) opens the show. The new album from Drunken Prayer is “The Name of the Ghost is Home,” featuring new songs from Americana artist Morgan Geer. Critics say the music is “transcending Americana with music that could have emerged from a highly blissed-out biker bar or at a swampy ashram.”

Sense of Place lectures return Oct. 19

Sense of Place lectures return to the Columbia Center for the Arts in Hood River starting on Wednesday, Sept. 19 and shows start at 7 p.m. “Sense of Place features presenters with a unique knowledge of the Columbia River Gorge and who consider the natural, cultural, and political history that has shaped this place. The presenters can include scientists, tribal members, authors, farmers, and many others from throughout the Pacific Northwest. The information and stories shared at these talks deepen our understanding of the Gorge and strengthen our connection to the landscape and to each other.”

The Artists of the Gorge Exhibit at Stevenson Library

The 43rd Annual Artists of the Gorge Exhibit is on display through Oct. 31 at the Stevenson Community Library. Twenty artists from The Gorge have been selected to this juried show and the public can vote in person or online for the People’s Choice Award.

‘Three Warriors’ movie event with Delson Suppah Oct. 4

Southern Wasco County Library presents a showing of the 1977 movie “Three Warriors” which was filmed on the Warm Springs Reservation, on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 4 p.m. A question and answer session with Delson Suppah, the Cultural Program Coordinator for the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs follows.

Empowered Movement Aerial show Nov. 5

Join aerial artists from Empowered Movement Aerial for a benefit show on Saturday, Nov. 5, at NK Studio and Fitness Center in Bingen, Wash. Kaleidoscope opens Oct. 6 at TDAC

The Dalles Art Center presents a new exhibit: Kaleidoscope, by Sally Ann Kortge, opening Thursday, Oct. 6, from 5-7 p.m. The show runs through Nov. 12. “A Kaleidoscope is an instrument containing loose bits of colored material that change position to create an endless variety of patterns. Sally Ann operates as an instrument in bringing color, form, and material together in unexpected and creative ways. The immediacy and vibrancy in which she lives is infused into the artwork that she creates. As a self described folk artist, Sally Ann has used an urgency of life created after surviving cancer to fully express her exuberant creativity that has been with her since childhood.” Her work has been described as fitting into the canon of non-conformers such as James Castle.

‘Jekyll and Hyde’ coming to Bingen Theater

Big Britches Productions is collaborating with Ambiguous Theater for “a new and shocking version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale of depravity, lust, love and horror.”  This version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde” comes to the Bingen Theater in Bingen, Wash., on Oct 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 21 and 22. 

“On the fog-bound streets of Victorian-era London, Henry Jekyll’s experiments with exotic “powders and tinctures” have brought forth his other self — Edward Hyde, a sensualist and villain free to commit the sins Jekyll is too civilized to comprehend. When Hyde meets a woman who stirs his interest, Jekyll fears for her life and decides to end his experiments. But Hyde has other ideas, and so the two sides battle each other in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse to determine who shall be the master and who his slave.”

The Landmark Concert Series presents singer-songwriter Ryan Montbleau on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at St. Peter’s Landmark Church in The Dalles.

White Salmon Homecoming Oct. 7

On Friday, Oct. 7, it’s the White Salmon Homecoming, a 10-year commemoration of the removal of Condit Dam on the White Salmon River.
