Benefit Concert Planned After Gorge Musician Seriously Injured in SR 14 Motorcycle Crash
The Dalles, Ore., July 21, 2026 — A 28-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured after crashing along State Route 14 near the Chamberlain Rest Area west of Lyle on July 17, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Troopers said Logan Kalsch was riding westbound on SR 14 when his motorcycle left the roadway to the right and struck a rock wall along the shoulder. Kalsch was thrown from the motorcycle during the crash.
The motorcycle was totaled.
Emergency responders requested an air ambulance, and Kalsch was flown to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver for treatment of his injuries.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the preliminary cause of the crash was listed as "wheels off roadway." It remains under investigation.
Kalsch has been a regular in the local Gorge music scene, playing in three bands - Walk Through Fire, Got Your Six, and most recently Cascade High - a band made up of Kalsch, Cody Christopherson, Al Hare, Nolan Hare, Matthew McCravey and Andrew Duncan.

Reached today by phone, Al Hare said Kalsch was severely scratched up by the crash, but had also been released from the hospital.
Hare said he and others immediately jumped into action to raise funds for the guitar player noting how expensive medical helicopter’s are, and how quick bills can add up when a musician is unable to work.
A community fundraising campaign launched following the crash states Kalsch underwent surgery the day after the collision. Hare said the fundraiser is intended to help offset unexpected medical expenses, describing Kalsch as someone who has "always been there for others" and asking the community to support him during his recovery.
Kalsch is “determined to play” this weekend despite his injuries, Hare said, noting Cascade High is playing the Hood River County Fair on Saturday, July 25th.

In addition to the online fundraiser, a benefit concert has been scheduled for Sunday, July 26, at The Bargeway Pub in The Dalles to help raise money for Kalsch's recovery and medical expenses.
The event begins at 5 p.m. Music will be provided by Got Your Six – Veteran Band at 6 p.m., Walk Through Fire at 7 p.m., and Cascade High Band at 8 p.m.
Event organizers said every donation will help ease the financial burden on Kalsch and his family as he continues recovering from his injuries. An online fundraiser also has been established for those who wish to contribute but cannot attend the event.
